Reliance Retail - Manager - Software Engineering - eCommerce Vertical

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an entrepreneurial engineering manager to steer the development of a unique, world class cross border wholesale (and retail) commerce platform. We are looking for someone passionate about technology and also curious about business fundamentals and problem solving. Your role will require you to be hands-on in driving engineering excellence, ensuring quality and timely execution, developing innovative solutions, hiring, developing and leading a high performing team. You will be responsible for the end to end development process, reliability, capability, and outcomes for the platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Partner in defining the technology roadmap for the business

- Collaborate with various teams to develop and define requirements, interfaces, implementation approaches and scalable and reusable solutions

- Manage the delivery pipeline across all aspects of the ecommerce platform - user experience, data-driven innovations, supply chain, payments, content management, and more

- Drive engineering excellence and implementation of best practices in design review, code review, continuous integration/development, behaviour-driven development, test-driven development, and more.

- Be a hands-on problem solver and lead from the front in continuously exploring elegant solutions and new technologies

- Ensure adoption of best in class quality assurance techniques to delivery very high-quality platform experience

- Attract and retain diverse and highly skilled engineering talent

- Work in a mutually interdependent structure spanning across business, technology and other functions helping unblock teams and resolve issues.

KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS

- Strong Full stack development and Architecture experience using coding languages like Java/Javascript/Typescript etc, and frameworks like Springboot, Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring Reactor,React.js, Vue.js, Node.js, Vert.x etc.

- Thorough understanding and experience of orchestration on at least one of the major hyper-scaler cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

- REST API design and implementation

- Experience in containerization technology like docker and kubernetes

- Experience of CI build systems or automated testing

- Engineering experience in open source based web applications, with a large relational or NoSQL data store (e.g MongoDB/Couchbase/Elastic search/ Postgresql/ Mysql).

- Experience with distributed machine learning systems (e.g., Apache Spark ML) as well as big data systems (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.

- Strong hands-on experience of working with and buildout of transformational agile teams for enterprise scale application development.

- Experience of working at a client location or direct client interface is a plus

KEY QUALIFICATIONS :

- Graduate (BE/ B.Tech.)/ Masters (ME/M.Tech. /MS) in Computer Science or equivalent from a premier institute with 8+ years experience

- Technology-oriented experience managing products with technical complexity and interdependencies

- Experience across both front end and back end solutions across the ecommerce technology stack, at a reasonably scaled setup
