Position Requisites:

Responsibilities :
The duties and responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Formulate a programming strategy in collaboration with the Business Head and ensure alignment with brand strategy
- Undertake preparation of a yearly programming and production budget based on the strategic time table in collaboration with the finance department
- Finalize the various formats which can be adapted for use and evaluate them in terms of alignment to programming strategy and channel objectives
- Guide Creative Directors and Executive Producers in ideation and management of content for channels in line with the programming strategy
- Ensure appropriate programming mix for the channel
- Develop a strategic time table, based on research and viewership patterns in collaboration with the sales and marketing terms.
- Drive the decisions for content acquisition and development based on parameters such as profit potential, cost, mass audience / target viewer appeal and quality of content.
- Finalize the proposals received from production houses on specified parameters such as alignment with programming strategy, cost and production house credentials.
- Direct negotiations with representatives from production houses and vendors to ensure that production costs are minimized.
- Oversee signing of agreements with production houses in collaboration with the Legal and Finance departments.
- Direct preparation of fixed point charts for specified time periods detailing daily schedule of shows.
- Supervise quality / TRPs of current programs on a continuous basis and recommend any additions, deletions, modifications if required.
- Oversee development of systems for maintenance of a database of competitive trends pertaining to positioning and content of other channels.
- Direct resource allocation for existing and new programs so as to ensure optimum utilization of resources.
- Ratify production budgets developed by the Finance department and Executive Producers for all in house and outsourced programs and ensure effective control over production costs for each production schedule.
- Ensure development of detailed project plans for each in-house programme in collaboration with the executive Producer of the programme and the Technical & Engineering Department.
- Ensure that all required licenses, permissions and approvals are obtained from the concerned authorities for all production activities.
- Oversee the quality of all pre production and post production activities and ensure adherence to predefined timelines.
- Provide inputs on manpower requirements for the achievement of department objectives and ensure that the department is adequately staffed.
- Liaise with the HR team to build internal capability and expertise through training and mentoring initiatives, succession planning and job rotation.
Job Specifications :
- Preferably Post graduate in Mass media background
- Minimum 8-10 years relevant experience
