1. Purpose

Lead the Security Function for the region and drive the implementation of all safety and security related protocols and systems. Ensure physical safety of all shipments and facilities in the region

2. Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Strategic

Support the Head - Security in formulating the safety and security strategy for the organization

Support the Head - Security in developing policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and protocols for security management for Blue Dart

- Keep updated with competitor practices and new developments with respect to security systems, security methodologies, etc.; Evaluate the feasibility of implementation of the same within the region and provide inputs to the Head - Security and Senior Management on the same

Financial

- Ensure adherence to the security budget determined for the region

- Drive cost analysis for various security related activities carried out in the region and provide highlights to the Senior Management regarding the same

- Drive efforts towards reduction in costs for the organization caused due to damage, pilferage, theft, loss of shipment cases

Operational

- Implement and drive adherence to all policies, procedures and guidelines to be followed with respect to security and safety of shipments, physical security and employee safety at all the facilities of Blue Dart in the region

- Monitor and ensure the physical safety and security of all shipments, in terms of control over number of damaged shipments, missing/ pilfered shipments, theft cases in region, etc.

- Work closely with the Operations team to ensure timely closure of investigation cases (related to loss, damage, pilferage, theft of shipments and misuse of credit card cases)

- Ensure the regular and timely updation of SHIELD (online security module)

- Implement guidelines and monitor safety of high value shipments through physical hand-over and take-over, sending of pre-alerts, monitoring shipments in transit, educating customers on packaging, etc.

- Ensure conduct of periodic security checks on pick-ups in the region for any dangerous/ banned items

- Monitor the conduct of security checks on all shipments received from cash customers

- Drive the physical security of all the Blue Dart facilities in the region through the implementation of electronic security measures and technology solutions (CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarms, etc)

- Undertake the conduct of regular security audits, electrical audits, fire-safety audits, etc. across all Blue Dart facilities in the region

- Ensure coverage of safety procedures to all locations within the region, in terms of safety drills, audits, trainings conducted (e.g. emergency response procedures, mock fire-safety drills), etc.

- Undertake risk identification and assessment with respect to various security related risks and discuss the same with the Head - Security for risk mitigation measures

- Evaluate the manpower requirements for security in the regions; Ensure hiring of security staff through verified and empanelled vendors

- Monitor and ensure timely completion of pre-employment verifications for all new joinees including PDAs

- Ensure the conduct of security orientation and training for all employees in the region

- Drive verifications for customers within the region prior to signing contracts

- Maintain relationships with various regional regulatory bodies for security and safety related issues

People

- Provide direction, guidance and support to subordinates to help them discharge their duties effectively

- Monitor the performance of subordinates on a continuous basis to identify key performers and mentor and coach them effectively
