- To lead the development and execution of the Bank's corporate business strategy.
- To manage and sustain a portfolio of corporate customers, building long- term relationships together with Relationship Managers.
- To drive optimum customer acquisition, retention and income generation from sales of all appropriate Assets, Liability and transactional banking products of the bank to corporate clients.
- To enhance motivation for business growth among Corporate Banking team members through constant engagement.
- To have a holistic understanding of economic and business trends, and position the Bank for optimum benefit from the opportunities presented.
- To ensure compliance to Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti Money laundering (AML) requirements in all dealings with existing and potential customers.
- To develop tactics for increasing the Bank's brand visibility in the corporate space.
- To assess various credit, product and service offering proposals for management approval.
- To monitor Corporate Banking team performance, and report on metrics.
Internal relationships-
- Working closely with different business units or product areas e.g. Business Banking Managers, Personal Banking Managers, GIO Business Managers & Branch Managers - to ensure customers are offered all First Capital Bank product & services and are satisfied with the bank's service.
- Liaising with key staff in other business units and product areas to ensure excellent product/service delivery for customer satisfaction.
- Good relationship with Operations & IT Divisions for timely provision of specific reports to customers.
- Continuously engaging and mentoring Relationship Managers on deal structuring and key customer service issues.
External relationships-
- Maintaining close contacts with customers through key decision makers/senior managers to ensure that they prefer Bank to other banks for their banking requirements.
- Leveraging off Bank expertise in specialist areas and ensure that we have a competitive advantage over local banks to provide solutions in these specialist areas.
- Training/coaching key staff for customer organisations and ensures that they develop trust in the bank and always give the bank business.
- Being close to customers and getting detailed understanding of customers business through site or premises visits (meetings with key managers/officers/staff) to ensure that we provide solutions specific to customer needs.
Technical skills and competencies-
1. Market Assessment and Business Development.
- Conducts market research to identify, initiate, establish and develop long term business relationships with the objective of meeting business and revenue objectives.
- Understands and up to date with market trends and dynamics of concern to the Bank's business development.
- Conducts periodic meetings with key customers, partners, prospective customers to ensure business continuity and growth and expanding share of wallet from key clients.
- Conducts proactive business development activities from new & existing clients, through strategic penetration into identified market/sectors across the entire portfolio spectrum.
2. Portfolio Management and Deal Structuring
- Pro- actively establishes, develops and maintains a team portfolio of corporate clients ensuring that new relationships or ongoing requirements of existing clients attain maximum revenue within acceptable risk profile requirements.
- Carries out detailed financial and non- financial analysis of the client accounts and develops proposals within defined Bank procedures and often creates structured deals to meet the client needs.
3. People Management and Leadership
- Inspires team members to achieve set objectives, monitors team performance, and reports on metrics.
- Monitors and enables the achievement of goals and key performance indicators for direct reports (RMs) and ensures effective implementation of the performance management process in the section.
- Develops talent within the team by providing guidance, ongoing feedback, coaching and development opportunities to individuals to enable achievement of the defined goals.
4. Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Positively develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicates and gains commitment from internal and external stakeholders.
- Uses emerging technologies to collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Applies professional and ethical judgement when engaging with stakeholders.
- Aligns the Bank's strategic objectives with stakeholder needs and manages expectations
5. Strategy and Innovation
- Applies business acumen and commercial awareness to deliver business objectives.
- Recommends a range of suitable strategic options from which to develop sustainable plans and objectives.
- Evaluates, justifies and implements suitable strategic options.
- Adopts and applies innovative methods to implement strategy and manages change
Knowledge, expertise & experience-
- A degree in Banking, Business Administration or any related field. Postgraduate training in leadership will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a banking environment of which minimum 5 years should be of managing Corporate client relationships.
- Sound understanding of all banking products
