Position: Quality Leader
Location: Silvassa
Reporting To: Site Leader
Criteria: B.Tech in Polymer Science & Technology with 13+ years of experience in Polymer Processing, Compounding, and Leading Quality & New Product Development Functions in medium to large-sized Polymer Processing Industries
Preferred Experience & Knowledge:
- Six Sigma or lean manufacturing experience
- Familiar with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and IS0 45001 quality systems
- ASQ certification
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills.
- Change agent: comfortable with what could be mindset, innovative and able to drive change by fostering teamwork and engaging others.
- External perspective and understands that all business opportunities start with the knowledge of how to create value for the customer.
- Manage work: Organizes, plans and sets priorities based upon deadlines, timelines and what is considered most critical and beneficial for the company.
- Ability to analyze and use data to drive process improvements. Work experience on software like Minitab etc.
- Strong listening and understanding skills.
Job Profile:
This position is responsible to ensure a quality product is being manufactured to meet or exceed our customer expectations. Will also drive to continuously improve the manufacturing process to eliminate waste, improve safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity, and improve the end product. Establishes and maintains accurate process recipes for operations in order to safely produce products that consistently meet codes, specifications, and customer requirements at the lowest cost.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead for Safety Excellence
- Maintain a focus on safety.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment and build a safety culture in all TPM efforts.
- Use TPM methodologies to continue to drive to zero incidents and zero waste.
- Ensure that all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures related to the technical operation of the production lines identify and mitigate safety risks.
- Adhere to and continuously improve all safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Know the business and our customers
- Identifying, understanding, and teaching others the Critical Product Characteristics required to provide our customers with a quality product.
- Developing and implementing procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Supporting experiments or trials for new and existing products to ensure they meet our customers fitness for use.
- Administer quality complaint system (permissions, reporting, review of 8D process, etc.) with a focus on CONQ (cost of non-quality)
- Every operations employee knows how their role assures customer success and is passionate to achieve it.
Quality Management
- Be custodian on Quality. Establish functional leadership, support and coach operation leaders on the quality parameters, process, and systems.
- Conducting daily process audits to review Critical Product Characteristics and Critical Process Variables and implementing sustainable corrective actions for process shifts or upsets.
- Determining process consistency and capability (Cpk) Implement control charting schemes for Critical Process Variables
- Developing and implementing Operator Control Plans to ensure that all products meet specifications at the lowest cost. Conduct process audits and implementing corrective actions to ensure product consistency and maximum volume. Identifying and eliminating special causes of product and process variation (troubleshooting)
- Analyzing product and process data, providing feedback and making recommendations to optimize performance.
- Networking with other plants and the Science & Technology Center (S&T) to identify and implement best practices.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements. Improvements may originate from S&T or other facilities.
- Implementing corrective actions for issues surfaced through quality complaints and hold tags. Coaching, counseling, and training all employees on process control.
- Creating, and documenting process settings and work instructions. Defining required maintenance actions to resolve equipment issues.
- Identify and correct repetitive equipment failures and working with Maintenance to identify and implement solutions.
- Identify, analytically justifying request capital funding for equipment, modifications, etc.
Leading and Developing Talent
- Effectively training employees in Quality Management procedures
- Partner with other Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Pillars to develop and implement Total Productive Maintenance plans for equipment to ensure employee understanding and ownership, and elimination of defects.
- Lead development of training plans for employees when related to Quality and the development of specific knowledge and expertise of the Quality team members.
- Leverage TPM methodology for Skill advancement & development with the workforce
