About GRID:

Government Reforms and Infrastructure Development (GRID) is one of the SBUs within Advisory LOS which provides services across government / regulated sectors, with over 350 full time specialists. For over 15 years, we have been part of the national and state-level sectoral reform programs, which include areas such as fiscal and governance, pension and insurance, education and health, social sector, municipal, power and infrastructure sectors. Power & Utilities practice is the largest sub-SBU within GRID with more than 250 full time specialists.

About Power & Utilities Team -

- Power and Utilities is a key business area where the team works across panoply of clients in Private sector, Banks and financing industry and various state and central ministries / regulators dealing with Power value chain. Familiarity with power sector is an added advantage to the candidate.

- The team works across a wide variety of areas based on emerging market trends and opportunities. We work with Government Agencies, Donor Agencies, Multilateral Development Agencies, Private sector companies and all power utilities. 


- It is a mix of public and private sector agencies. A P&U consultant's work profile includes strategy formulation, preparation of business plan, improving business performance, advisory services related to power trading, market entry and investment decision support, project appraisals, power import-export strategy, private sector participation, regulatory issues, bid process management and ERP implementation. The above listed areas of work spread across conventional energy including thermal and hydro power, renewable energy, and nuclear energy. Projects are spread across multiple places of delivery. The team also supports other PwC firms on various global opportunities. The candidate will need to develop proficiency across these over a period of time based on available opportunities.

Job Description:

A. Core requirements: The Manager will be required to perform one or all of the activities (list is not exhaustive)

1. Financial modelling and analysis of ratios

2. Financial management

3. Market entry and Investment decision support / Project appraisals

4. Bid advisory support including financial models & risk analysis

5. Formulation of business plans and strategy roadmaps,

6. Corporate restructuring plans, financial restructuring plans

7. Commercial and market Due diligence

8. Financial due diligence (analyze and understand)

9. Transaction structuring - PPP & Private sector participation - incl drafting of commercial agreements and bid process management

B. Other requirements: Apart from the core job requirements, the following would be expected from the consultant

- Business development: Maintaining relationship with existing and prospective clients, generate leads and conversion, preparation of proposals and budgets.

- Team management: Managing and mentoring team members.

- The candidate would be required to manage multiple projects or work streams with multiple clients at any point of time.

- The role provides opportunity to work directly with senior executives including C Suite and Government Secretaries and other senior officials. Typical projects involve regular travel and in some cases extended stay in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

- The candidate should be self disciplined and self motivated as he would be required to display ability to innovate, create lasting relationships and work independently with little supervision.

Education Qualification :B.Tech+ MBA ( Full Time Only) preferable and B.tech from Reputed Engg. college.

Base Location: Gurgaon

Requirements from candidate:

- The candidate must have thorough knowledge and prior experience in almost all of the competencies mentioned in the job description.

- Must have strong concepts of corporate finance

- Though power sector experience is not mandatory, it will be an added advantage

- The candidate must have willingness to travel to tier-2 & tier-3 cities in short notice. Travel may be to SE Asia and African countries also.

Other Essential job requirements:

- Basic problem solving skills

- Excellent communication skills including proficiency in English language

- Tools - proficiency in Excel and Power point
