Purchase Manager - Manufacturing

Objective:

- Set up a strong strategic purchasing organisation for KL India to support the operations team

- Implement the Strategy 2020

- Introduce and establish purchasing processes taking into account local legal requirements and KL standards. Activities to be coordinated with the HQ.

- Coordinate purchasing activities with other regional purchasing organisations with the aim to optimise Purchasing.

- Ensure supplies according to quality, cost and deadline requirements.

- Support procurement of non-productive material.

- Localise raw materials and create an appropriate delivery system to optimise cost and efficiency.

- Introduce the raw material management process according to Process C 3 - 5

Job profile:

- Build up a network with strategic suppliers

- Plan and control material cost development

- Purchasing market research

- Analyse the purchasing behaviour of competitors

- Shape the local purchasing strategy (number of suppliers, sourcing strategies, Make-or Buy, Dual Sourcing, etc.) based on the Global Strategy

- Develop local vendors to cater for global needs of the company

- Coordinate different parts of the company to pool the purchasing power

- Standardise the consolidation of volumes

- Supplier management (assessment and development of suppliers)

- Negotiate prices and payment terms with suppliers

- Drive cost reduction projects as a continuous process

- Introduce risk management tools for raw material procurement

Operative purchasing

- Tenders for new supply contracts

- Review and compare quotations

- Draft and conclude contracts with suppliers

- Lead raw material management team

- Manage special projects

- Establish General Terms and Conditions for Purchasing

- Ensure compliance with the Environmental Protection Guidelines in his/her area

Managerial tasks

- Leadership of employees in line with the Company Guidelines for Leadership and Teamwork and the Security Policy

- Leading according to Company’s “Code of Conduct

Skills & personal attributes:

- Process and project-related approach

- Aptitude for leading employees

- Assertiveness

- Willingness to travel for several days

- Intercultural skills

- Good command of English in speech and writing; familiar with SAP and MS Office

- Experience in dealing with international suppliers and internal interfaces

- Ability to cooperate and achieve consensus

- Responsible and self-motivated work attitude

- Experience in importing and exporting raw materials

- Methodological competence (familiar with the usual purchasing tools, disposition, warehouse management, ABC analysis etc.)

- High degree of process understanding

- Potential to head Regional Purchasing

- Awareness of the work culture in South India

Desired:

- An MBA would be preferred
