Position Description:
Finance Manager
Basic Function: The Finance Manager position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
This position is also responsible for cash management and risk management.
Principal Accountabilities:
Management:
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Managing all finance and accounting operations
- Develop overall financial goals, and policies for the organization.
- Manage outsourced functions
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Implement control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
- Participate as necessary in developing and implementing financial and investment strategies
- Consult with outside legal counsel as may be required
Transactions:
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
- Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
- Streamline vendor payment processes and improve the financial health of the company
- Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Process payroll in a timely manner
- Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Reporting:
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide for a system of management cost reports
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Conducting financial audits at property level
- Coordinate with appropriate outside agencies to collect delinquent customer accounts, when appropriate.
Compliance:
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Prepare and submit quarterly and annual tax compliance reports with applicable Federal, State and Local agencies to include income taxes, payroll taxes, sales and applicable use taxes,
unemployment compensation, etc.
- Collaborate with the payroll group to ensure that all deductions and payroll activities are compliant with payroll laws
Desired Qualifications:
- Should have a Bachelor's & Master's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5 - 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting for a major company or division of a large corporation.
- Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
Working Conditions: This is work from home position. Working hours are night shift. Will be expected to use their own laptop, internet and other equipment needed for successful completion of work.
