Job Title : Analyst - GHO Tax

Reports to : Assistant Manager - GHO Tax

Scope of Role : Prudential UK

Business Area : Tax and Finance

Key departments / areas of responsibility :

- Systems input

- Financial reconciliations

- Tax and Financial analysis

Overall Job Purpose :

To maintain and provide financial information to support the production of Tax computations/UKGAAP/MI systems.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities :

- Analysis of P&L and identify expenses disallowable for tax purposes or expense that are capital in nature.

- Analysis of Project spend to be included as part of the Disallowed Expenses Report

- Build controls and perform reconciliations to ensure the expenses match with numbers reported in Regulatory/Statutory returns

- Prepare Disallowable Expenses Report on a quarterly Basis.

- Disallowable expense report to be submitted to the Cost Allocation team for Branching to various statutory entities forming basis for computation of taxable profits for each such entity.

- Analysis of Benefit in kind expenses and submit the quarterly return for review by the Group Tax Specialist.

- Compile details for further submission to HMRC for modified and real dividends

- Compilation of corporation tax returns.

- Assist with project work as and when required.

- To be able to provide effective cover for other team members, in particular, to be able to process critical activities within tight deadlines.

- To be responsible to introduce and implement controls for each process.

- To ensure all process related documentations are timely updated to show changes.

- To be responsible to build constructive rapport with stakeholder through meetings, discussions and encouraging feedbacks.

- To demonstrate a positive risk, compliance and control culture through the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of risks and issues within the business area, alongside ensuring timely and appropriate resolution of control weaknesses, actions and failures that arise

Key Interfaces :

Internal :

Statutory Accountants - details pertaining to expenses, analysis of accruals, provisions, etc.

Cost Allocation Team - providing product and cost mapping and output of the Disallowed Expenses Report.

Commercial Finance - provide details of expenses adhoc.

Accounts payable - providing the Invoices for expenses incurred for further analysis.

External : Group Tax

Competence / Knowledge / Skills required :

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: (KEY)

- Knowledge of Excel (incl advanced excel functions) and PeopleSoft

- Good analytical skills and determination to complete a task.

- Understanding of basic accounting and taxation rules

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: (DESIRABLE)

- Understanding of UK taxation rules

- Knowledge of Word and Powerpoint

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

- Graduate / Part qualified accountant

EXPERIENCE:

- Graduate with 3-4 years/ Part qualified accountant with 2-3 years work experience

- A good team player.

- Able to remain calm under pressure.

- Able to work unsociable hours where required, i.e. to manage an incident.

- Detail conscious and concern for accuracy.

- Ability to work without close supervision and meet tight deadlines
