Indian Real Estate industry is huge by any standard. It accounts for 5% of India's GDP with an annual turnover of over $70 billion. It is also the second largest employer after agriculture. With rising consumerism and younger demographics, not only this industry is growing strongly, but is also undergoing a major overhaul.

Since more and more home buyers and investors are young and highly educated, it is forcing this, predominately unorganized sector, to change into a more structured industry. To make this market efficient, factual-information dissemination is a must. To do this, independent fact-based research plays a key role. Properji is a pioneer in pro-buyer independent research in the residential real estate space and has been widely covered in mainstream media such as the Economic Times. After successfully proving the model in Bangalore over the last 8 months, we are now expanding pan-India. In order to do this, we are building a high performance team.

Role overview:

- This candidate will lead the strategy and business development to enable pan-India expansion, achieve revenues at scale and develop a path to profitability.

- This candidate will lead the business building efforts working with functional heads (e.g. product management, research, technology, marketing and sales) and report directly to the founding team.

- This role is a combination of Head of Strategy, General Manager, Chief Operating Officer and Commercial Leader roles.

- This role is likely to interest those who are entrepreneurial and like doing real stuff in the real world. Because Properji is an early stage venture, this job offers significant learning opportunity along with significant equity upside.

Qualifications:

- Outstanding strategic thinking skills. Clarity in thinking and problem-solving to prioritize and stay focused on big needle-movers

- Understanding and/or experience in Real Estate buying and selling

- “Can do” attitude and comfort with working in fast paced, unstructured start-up environment. High degree of comfort with ambiguity. Need to be curious, internally motivated self-starter

- High degree of flexibility and adaptability to evolve one’s role based on changing organizational needs

- External orientation. A track record of looking outside to identify emerging trends and being able to capitalize on the opportunities they presented

- Outstanding deal structuring skills with disparate ecosystem partners and maturity to nurture a win-win commercial relationship for the long-term

- Outstanding facilitative leadership and interpersonal skills to quickly gain shared vision externally and internally in order to move things forward under extremely stringent deadlines

- Outstanding senior management communication skills. Need to have really strong oral, written and presentation skills including ability to communicate very complex ideas in simple ways

- Open to travelling domestically and internationally

- Education: Top-tier engineering (e.g. IITs) with an MBA (e.g. Ivy League, IIMs) preferred

- Experience: 3+ years (with at least 2 yrs in top-tier strategic role)
