About Project:The project aims to transform Indias carbon and energy-intensive real estate sector by promoting High Performance Buildings (HPBs). HPBs present a game-changing opportunity to meet Indian business, climate and sustainability, innovation, and job creation goals.
About The Role: The organisation is seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead the project on HPBs. The role presents an opportunity to work with a strong multi-disciplinary practice and research team; engage with industry leaders, policymakers, financial sector decision makers, and the research community; and influence the decarbonisation of a key economic sector in India, delivering impact at scale and creating a global exemplar.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with global and national building standards, benchmarks, and certification processes; current policy, regulatory and financing arrangements, and associated opportunities and challenges; and the experience of designing and implementing HPBs at scale, managing large programmes, building stakeholder coalitions, and fund raising from international and domestic sources.
Roles and Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership & Program Management:- Developing and implementing strategies to promote HPBs at scale across multiple asset classes, including building and driving engagement with industry leaders, policymakers, financial sector decision-makers, and others to champion HPBs and ensure achievement of project goals
- Overseeing and managing the entire project, including technical assistance, capacity development, market development, innovation promotion, and policy and financing enablement
- Driving and managing resource mobilisation in line with project requirements
- Overall programme and team management, including financial and technical reporting
Technical Expertise & Experience:- Overseeing the mobilisation of lighthouse projects and ensuring that the technical assistance offerings are robust and aligned to agreed goals
- Leveraging the lighthouse project experience and results to amplify the business and climate case for HPBs
- Contributing to knowledge products and events that intend to share analytical and data- driven insights on HPBs, decarbonisation, and energy efficiency
- Strategizing and leading the development of a state-of-the-art performance verification dashboard on HPBs with deep technical know-how on data management and analytics.
Policy Development & Industry Engagement:- Engaging with industry leaders, policymakers, financial sector decision makers, and others to accelerate and influence policies, benchmarks, and financing arrangements to encourage HPB adoption
- Conceptualising media and awareness campaigns, guiding communications and design efforts for their execution
- Leading and contributing to publications, knowledge events, and other outreach activities, contributing to research/ insights dissemination through multiple forms and channels.
Education & Capacity Development:- Overseeing the design and delivery of capacity development programmes for students and practitioners
- Mentoring emerging professionals on best practices for HPBs
- Supporting the creation of education and training material from project experiences.
Collaboration & Partnership Development:- Working with corporate sustainability and business teams, research institutions, and international climate organizations to drive wider adoption and innovation in HPBs
- Establishing partnerships with design firms, developers, and OEMs to mainstream sustainable building practices.
- Representing the organisation at national and international forums to further the programme objectives, sharing programme insights with diverse sets of stakeholders, and enable cross learning
- Providing support to other activities including academics, research, training, practice, operations and others
- Participating in all activities of Institution-building at the organisation; carrying out tasks as assigned; and travelling on work within or outside the country as and when needed
Qualification and Experience:Must Haves:- Masters degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field; an undergraduate degree in a related field with an MBA will also be considered.
- The incumbent should have over 25 years of experience on HPBs, net-zero energy buildings, or equivalent
- Experience of working with building rating systems such as LEED, WELL, IGBC, GRIHA, and Passive House
- A proven track record of policy engagement and fundraising
- Spoken and written proficiency in English and Hindi; the ideal applicant will be proficient in one other modern Indian language
