The Project Accountant will be the lead field accountant responsible for maintaining effective controls over the financial aspects of major capital expenditure projects. The Project Accountant will be responsible to develop, monitor and present overall project accounting and analysis of project cost and cash flow to the project management teamon a regular basis. He / She will be instrumental in supporting the project management team through analytical reports to take informed decisions at the right time.Depending on the project size, the Project Accountant may also oversee staff accountants to assist with the accounting and internal controls. The Project Accountant will directly report to the Assistant Finance Controller of the company with administrative reporting responsibility to the Project Manager.

- Attain detailed understanding of the project budget including of the components of the project that are capital versus expense.

- Day-to-day execution of Goodyear developed accounting guidelines and cost control at the project level. This position is an extension of the controller organization at the project site and is the primary liaison between accounting and the operations department for matters related to project cost, reporting and analysis.

- Develop understanding of relevant Goodyear accounting and budget policies to ensure all elements of project are accounted for properly.

- Participate in Goodyear specific training to become fluent in the reporting software to be utilized for the specific project.

- Regular interaction with other project team members to be aware of potential change notices / change orders as they are being evaluated.

- Review and track all contracts, statements of work (SOW), change orders, purchase orders, etc. to facilitate budget planning, forecasting and re-forecasting. This includes an understanding of payment arrangements with suppliers in terms of pre-payments, progress payments and overall terms of the contract.

- Participate in periodic meetings providing clear status of actual spending versus project budget, highlighting potential risks to budget overspend (by providing forecasts as necessary) for each element of the project.

- Prepare necessary documentation for cost reimbursement through incentives or government grants, where available.

- Oversee or direct audit procedures over time and material work performed by general contractors.

- Creating framework for project accounting to record cost wise / asset wise expenses at the minute level and timely capitalization of the project in line with prescribed company policy and compliance to Indian GAAP / Companies Act

- Manage Internal / External auditors and ensure unqualified / satisfactory audit reports under capex management

- Able to communicate technical aspects of the project to stakeholders with average technical literacy as well as stakeholders with expert knowledge.

- Ability to multitask, handling various aspects of the project.

- Strong problem-solving and reconciliation skills.

- Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

- Understanding of construction accounting concepts, internal controls and potential risks surrounding major capital projects.

- Strong analytical skills, able to understand actual spending and develop accurate forecasts for the remaining spending on the project.

- Strong listening skills with the ability to take instruction from multiple supervisors.

Required Experience:

Minimum 5 of 2 years of post-qualification experience with a mid-size to large company in Finance and Accounting with specific emphasis to handle / lead controlling / in and construction project accounting activities or auditing of construction related controls.

Hands on knowledge of working in ERP climate with exposure in SAP.

General understanding of (or ability to become familiar with) Goodyear's chart of accounts and accounting software for tracking project spending.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, in particular MS Excel, and Access and Power point.

Education:

- Chartered Accountant

- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance.
