Professor & Program Chair Person - HR, Marketing, Operations & IT
Position Summary :
- This position is accountable for the overall division management of the respective Academic Affairs programme(s). The post holder is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of the division’s programme(s).
Skills and Experience
- A minimum of Ten years significant experience in teaching, business administration or administration at a College or/University level.
- Knowledge of adult/professional education principles/practices, curriculum development, and academic content area.
- Proven experience in a field related to the content of the relevant academic programme.
- Proven experience in a progressively responsible capacity in an education, service, operations, or business environment which has involved:
- Leading and/or supervising processes, procedures, and activities, and
- Participating in the development and implementation of goals and objectives, as described above.
- Demonstrable skills in operations systems management.
- A high level of problem solving and decision-making.
- A student-centred approach, including the ability to respond appropriately to student issues and concerns, evaluate students for retention, and counsel them into alternative programmes as necessary.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate with students, faculty, employees, and external parties on matters relevant to the management of the relevant campus Academic Affairs programme.
- Ability to conduct themselves at all times in a professional manner, and to represent the organization effectively and appropriately in its relationship with the community.
Preferred:
- Proven experience in teaching and/or management at an accredited College or University.
KRA's :
- Hires, trains, and conducts performance evaluations, and directs the workflow for designated division staff. Participates in developing and implementing division and/or department goals and objectives.
- Develops and maintains the quality and integrity of the BSOM's Programmes and is accountable for programme integrity and implementation.
- Directs the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures as they relate to the training and development of faculty for the division. This includes ensuring that goals and objectives are successfully attained, and that policies and procedures are communicated and adhered to throughout the division.
- Manages the faculty review process to ensure performance evaluations provide valuable feedback and are translated into useful information for faculty and academic affairs staff. Coordinates and reviews remediation plans and manages disciplinary action in accordance with BSOM’s guidelines and standards.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships by serving as a programme resource for division staff, faculty, and students, as well as a liaison to corporate academic affairs staff.
- Responds to student issues and concerns; evaluates students for retention and counsels them into other BSOM’s programmes as necessary.
- Serves as a full-time faculty, teaching within the programme curricula.
- Assists the Director, Corporate academic affairs personnel, including the Dean from respective programme(s), in the development and review of curriculum as needed or requested.
- Monitors, reviews and retains internship and practicum documentation when applicable.
- Manages the course approval process, which includes the review of faculty credentials and work experience to determine eligibility to teach a course(s). Ensures compliance with BSOM’s guidelines and standards.
- Manages division audit and reporting functions as needed or required by central administration personnel. This includes auditing indices of faculty and academic quality measures to ensure division maintains percentages within appropriate levels of performance, as prescribed by established BSOM’s policies and procedures.
- Coordinates faculty governance activities to ensure new curriculum changes are communicated effectively prior to implementation. This includes ensuring faculty and division personnel receive appropriate materials in a timely manner.
- Leads and/or participates in task forces and committees (as appropriate) to represent and address academic concerns to the division management team and/or corporate administration. This may include participating in planning, implementing, and coordinating divisional activities to maximize service quality effectiveness and efficiency.
- Maintains an up-to-date professional and technical knowledge of the curricula by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. This includes ensuring awareness and knowledge of emerging issues and trends relevant to the respective division Academic Affairs programme(s).
