Product Manager/Head - Mobile/FMCG - IIT/IIM/ISB

Silverpeople is retained to hire a Product Manager to play a key role in one of the international consumer durable companies entering India. Our client, with more than USD 5 Bn in revenues, is planning to quickly expand its overseas operations and social media platform in next few months. They want a product manager for India operations, who will be the primary owner of the product experience in India.

Salary: 20-30 LPA (not a constraint for right candidate)

Job summary:

- Product Manager will be responsible for the entire life-cycle of the company’s flagship products in the Indian Market- from advice on product portfolio and localization requirements, to providing "local flavour" advice to eCommerce and social media teams, to having deep interactions with local users and partners on an ongoing basis with the objective of always improving company’s products.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Primary owner of the product experience in India

- Facilitate the certification process by researching local certification requirements and working closely with company’s certification team on Type Approval and other local requirements

- Manage the legal and regulatory requirements for bringing products into the country

- Lead India’s device testing end-to-end, working with local vendors and carriers as needed and serving as the bridge between teams

- Oversee any carrier customization requirements

- Support local launches in India as needed

- Own the localization of all UI features and apps, and coordinate local translation & localization efforts

- Work closely with the UI product management, engineering and UX teams to define, design and implement UI features for India

- Advisor to the company’s e-commerce team to ensure local requirements are addressed

- Active managing and contributing member of the company’s user forum, as well as other forums where Indian users might be discussing products and UI

- Support local launches in India as needed, including flashing devices, showing demo to local tech-bloggers and media, conducting sales training of carrier and retail staff etc.

Qualifications/Eligibility:

- 6-12 years of relevant experience in product management, preferably in mobile industry

- Bachelors / Masters degree from a top-tier university such as IITs, IIMs, ISB, etc.

- International work experience or experience working in a multinational technology company a plus

- Demonstrably strong design sense

- Entrepreneurial spirit, not a "corporate person" and very outgoing, likeable, presentable, humble and naturally capable of easily interacting with others

- Native English and Hindi speaker

- Ability to think “outside the box” and solve problems on the fly

- Good eye for details with a “hands-on” and “can do” attitude

- Have to travel abroad frequently
