Product Development
- Overall responsibility of the product both in terms of financial success as well as customer satisfaction
- Define and develop the product characteristics and elements from a customer stand point.
- Packaging of the product and its look and feel and innovative ways to present it
- Prescribe the pricing of the product vis a vis competition and the entire profitability analysis that goes with it.
- Competitive analysis and market segmentation. Taking steps to correctly segment the product
- Developing trade schemes and other marketing initiatives and sales activation programs
- Develop and execute a healthy new product pipeline which would involve process to launch new products as per plans.
- ATL and BTL activities to get the product to masses
- Monitor, analyse, and evaluate market trends, consumer / customer behavior, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities for the brands.
- Understand market research need for the brands and execute a market research road map. Ensure market research done is utilized meaningfully to achieve business objectives.
Brand Management and Marketing
- Monitor and influence demand forecasting; monitor sales and other brand metrics and adapt plans as required.
- Manage external and internal constituents like advt agencies, research etc
- Monitor and recommend action for brand profitability.
- Ensure that the marketing support budgets are effectively utilized and appropriately accounted for the relevant group of brands.
Communication Network Internal: - R&D, SCM, Finance, Legal, Manufacturing, & Sales.
Communication Network External:- Advertising and media agencies, market research agencies, packaging agencies, PR agencies etc.
- Product orientation and product understanding including conceptualization. Need less of a sales guy and more of a product person
- Skills in conceptualization and customer understanding
- Networks with agencies and external parties
- Ability to execute plans effectively
- Ownership and cost orientation
- Possess drive, motivation and acute attention to detail
MBA in marketing from a reputed B school
7-10 years of relevant experience in marketing and product management
ESSENTIAL:
- Must be working in the product side and not on the sales side though having an understanding of sales and experience in the past will be preferred
- Must have been involved in conceptualization of any product and taken to market
- Have a mix of professional company exposure and also entrepreneurial set ups
- Good appreciation of cost and profitability
- Experience in companies with retail push rather than consumer pull
