Product Head - Payments/Wallets Industry ( 23- 25L CTC)


Since 2007, Client has played an instrumental role in evolution of agent banking system, using existing mom-n-pop shops, and developing mobile phones to enable existing mom-n-pop shops to become low-cost agents. Its platform has enabled many services including branchless correspondent banking for large banks like State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank.

After being awarded the license to operate a semi-closed pre-paid instrument by Reserve Bank of India in the first quarter of 2015, It proposes to build a scalable platform for customers to cash-in/cash-out, save, send and spend electronically.

Client today has a network of over 30,000 retail outlets and processes over Rs. 1000 crore per month

The next era of the banking revolution would require developing two parameters:

- Democratizing cash-in & cash-out network

- Building relevant technology tools for the customer to transact electronically

Client is on an endeavor to build this network and platform that empowers the next billion to get connected financially.

PROFILE: PRODUCT HEAD

2018 is the year for payments. Globally, payments have become an extremely hot space for companies. This is true even for India. Right from the likes of Apple, Google, Facebook etc. are trying to create new experiences in payments. In India, large number of companies are coming out with their own wallet product, even the large banks are participating in this space.

Client is competing in this hyper-growth payments market space. Winning in this space requires us to excel in the following:

- Adoption by customers

- Ubiquitous acceptance/ network

- User experience

- Loyalty

- Continued relevance

While we build our world-class product, we are looking for individuals who believe in making a dent in how payments are perceived today. We want to have people who are passionate about payments and wish to be a part of a team that is determined to make it a ubiquitous way to make payments.

As the Head of Products, the person will be responsible for building end to end payments platform. This would include understanding market requirement and close interaction with engineering, technology and other teams. It requires a strong experience in payments business along with solid exposure to Unified Payments Interface (UPI). In-depth understanding of emerging trends and disruptive technologies in the payments industry is extremely critical for this role.

This role entails:

- Owning the P&L for all products and their roadmap, implementation and experience including product management with an emphasis on best-in-class user experience

- Having an extensive experience in digital product management experience

- Possessing a strong understanding of payments/wallets industry in India and any other developed market along with solid exposure to Unified Payments Interface (UPI)

- Leading product experience and it's architecture and ensuring trendiest marketing of the same

- Devising mechanisms to analyze stickiness and virality of its product line

- Overseeing creation of BRDs, agile stories, wireframes and establish key performance metrics for new features and products

- Ensuring continuous product disruption and timely execution and delivery

- Prioritizing product backlog based on a good understanding of customer needs, competition, business objectives and product metrics

- Establishing product acceptance criteria & review QA test cases to ensure that the envisaged customer benefits are realized

- Driving entire function on smart data on a daily basis and monitoring post launch metrics for new features to identify improvement opportunities

In the evaluation process, we are looking for:

1. Good understanding of various partner types and partner onboarding, their user acquisition and engagement flows

2. Prior experience of optimizing user journey for various consumer segments, from acquisition to activation, engagement and monetization

3. Experience and expertise in designing and implementing consumer experience through Agile methodologies

4. Familiarity of working in a high paced product company, working on disruptive technology

5. Rock solid communication, presentation and analytical skills

6. Strong preference for someone who has driven large numbers with small team size

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 13-17 years of experience handling various facets of product life cycle management or consumer experience across tech product platforms (web apps, mobile apps and AI)

2. MBA from Tier 1/2 management institutes and/or B.Tech (CS/IT/EC/EE)

3. Experience in Fintech or eComm industry is a strong advantage

4. Last 3 -5 years should have had complete ownership of product design, launch and monitoring numbers around UX, DAU (Daily Active Users), MAU (Monthly Active Users) and similar metrics

5. Inclination towards metrics, numbers and hands-on experience in using popular tools

6. Experience with scaled consumer product roll out with user base of over 10L

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

1. Should be able to make sense after 2 bottles of beer

2. An Agile practitioner is a plus

3. Should be able to prove her/his design thinking ability

4. Very strong analytical skills and practitioner of metric-driven approach

5. Proven ability to drive projects and plans with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects simultaneously

6. Proven ability to influence all levels within an organization

7. Humble, proactive and disciplined individual with a proven record of driving numbers

8. Ability to communicate problems in terms that are understandable to end users at all levels including techies
