Product Engineer - Footwear Manufacturing

We see our Manufacturing & Sourcing function as a source of competitive advantage. The nature of the work is focused on the internal or external production of products. You are responsible to make use of existing or new technology, platforms and engineering principles to build products for customers.

To that end you- ll,

Work in cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and improve existing production processes.

Participate in defining and documenting procedures for all aspects of manufacturing processes and equipment.

Coordinate and document trial runs of product.

Assist in the design and testing of new equipment

Provide support to more senior engineers.

Establish and drive footwear engineering best practice

Act as expert resource within the category during the development phase to identify and alleviate potential manufacturing issues and improve efficiency or costing. Make early recommendations on product construction techniques and tooling solutions.

Leverage category, functional, and technical knowledge to influence the product and process for developing and manufacturing footwear.

Resolve product issues in development, commercialization and Post- commercialization.

Lead high-profile cross category initiatives.

Develop awareness and understanding of corporate strategic plans and initiatives and ability to execute against the plan.

Support and Drive Modernization/Automation initiatives.

Foster and develop lean production creation mindset with team members and execute process optimization in the spirit of lean manufacturing.

Drive use of data driven process development and project management tools.

Support innovation plans target to specific category and infrastructure needs and ensure proven and tested readiness of new technologies and methods prior to production.

Requirements

College degree in related technical/engineering field. Additional experience required in lieu of a degree.

Minimum 3 -4 years combined footwear manufacturing and technical capacity experience.

Able to communicate well both in written and spoken English.

Critical thinking and analytical skills.

Demonstrate advanced skills and knowledge of lasts, footwear pattern, tooling, basic chemical engineering and various footwear construction processes.

Demonstrated advanced knowledge of footwear manufacturing machinery and processes. Demonstrated understanding of material properties, test methods and applications.

Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, sketches and digital files in 2D/3D.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Operate independently and in teams.

Travel as needed to support engineering and production initiatives.

Ability to work across cultures and navigate an organization matrix.
