Procurement Lead - Agritech Startup

Role: Procurement Lead

Location: Gurgaon

A growing AgTech startup has retained us to hire a Procurement Lead. As a Procurement Lead, you will oversee sourcing, procurement, and supply chain operations for agricultural commodities. You will manage supplier and farmer networks by onboarding reliable vendors, FPOs, and traders while ensuring quality and fair-trade practices.

Additionally, you will oversee procurement operations by tracking crop cycles, forecasting yields, and ensuring timely sourcing aligned with processing needs. You will also optimize costs by analyzing market trends, negotiating pricing, and implementing cost-saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Identify, onboard, and manage reliable suppliers, vendors, and farmer groups for procurement.

- Build strong relationships with farmers, FPOs, aggregators, and traders to ensure consistent supply.

- Negotiate contracts, optimize costs, and conduct supplier audits for quality, sustainability, and compliance.

- Work with field teams to track crop cycles, forecast yields, and plan procurement.

- Ensure timely raw material procurement while maintaining accurate records of contracts, invoices, and compliance.

- Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply-demand dynamics to optimize procurement decisions while identifying cost-saving opportunities.

- Streamline logistics and inventory management by coordinating with warehouse and operations teams for efficient transportation and minimal wastage.

- Maintain and update supplier databases, procurement reports, and key metrics to ensure transparency and compliance.

- Lead and manage the procurement team, ensuring effective coordination, training, and collaboration with field and operations staff.

To fit the bill, you must have:

- MBA with 6+ years in Sourcing and Procurement

- Strong supplier/vendor management skills with expertise in commodity markets.

- Ability to optimize procurement costs while ensuring quality and sustainability.

- Strong problem-solving, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

- Willingness to travel

Please Note- The role is based out of Gurgaon and involves traveling 7-10 days in a month.
