Pricing Manager - Freight Forwarding

Responsibilities:

Pricing Strategy & Management:

- Spearhead the pricing function for the freight forwarding business, ensuring efficient pricing for all enquiries and shipments.

- Develop and implement data-driven pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market.

- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the effectiveness of pricing strategies and identify areas for improvement.

- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, competitor pricing, and customer needs.

Vendor & Carrier Relationships:

- Negotiate, maintain, and update tariffs for various destinations within our technology-backed management system.

- Liaise with shipping lines, overseas counterparts, customs brokers, transport vendors, port authorities, and other vendors to secure competitive pricing for our customers.

- Build and maintain excellent relationships with key vendors to ensure access to the most competitive rates available.

- File NACs and contracts with carriers based on trade lanes and product offerings.

Customer & Sales Collaboration:

- Develop a strong understanding of the business needs of top customers to support customer retention and growth.

- Collaborate with the Sales team to conduct comprehensive MBRs/QBRs for key clients and suggest pricing strategies to improve customer satisfaction.

- Maintain open communication with the Commercial and Operations teams on pricing opportunities, challenges, and alternative pricing options.

Process Improvement & Efficiency:

- Analyze and report key performance metrics to track efficiency and effectiveness of the pricing department, focusing on conversion rates from inquiries to bookings.

- Work with Commercial and Process teams to identify and implement improvements to pricing processes, procedures, and technology for increased productivity, timeliness, and quality.

Networking & Collaboration:

- Network with internal business units to share information and identify new opportunities for the pricing department.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of [5-7 years] of experience in freight forwarding or transportation pricing (adjust experience based on your company's needs).

- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful pricing strategies in a competitive environment.

- Strong understanding of international trade regulations, shipping costs, and incoterms.

- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform pricing decisions.

- Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management systems (a plus).
