Job Summary:

- The Store & Purchase Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the store and indirect purchasing operations within a machine shop.

- This includes managing inventory, coordinating procurement processes, ensuring timely delivery of materials, maintaining optimal stock levels, and establishing relationships with suppliers.

- The role also involves implementing efficient store management practices to support production and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

- Oversee the entire inventory system to ensure accurate stock levels using the FIFO method.

- Implement inventory control procedures to avoid stockouts or overstocking.

- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.

- Maintain inventory records, including receipts, withdrawals, and stock levels.

Indirect Purchasing:

- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure a timely supply of materials and components.

- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, and reliability.

- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers.

- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.

- Monitor supplier performance and manage relationships to ensure compliance with agreements.

- Prepare the annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.

Store Management:

- Ensure the store is organized, clean, and safe.

- Implement best practices for the storage and handling of materials.

- Develop and maintain effective inventory management systems.

- Supervise store personnel and provide training as needed.

- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Coordination and Communication:

Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.

Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials.

Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to keep them informed about stock levels, order status, and potential delays.

Handle and resolve any issues related to procurement and inventory.
