Position Vacant Plant Manager:

Job Purpose: To be responsible for the manufacture of products in a safe, environmentally friendly and efficient manner to the agreed specifications for a plant or group of plants.


Key Job Responsibilities:

1) To train, develop and motivate all employees for whom the job holder has immediate line management responsibility and to ensure that the required competence of staff is secured.

2) To ensure that safe methods of working are maintained and that site SHE standards are adhered to. Including auditing of these systems and the completion of daily inspections in production areas. To be highly visible in encouraging safe behaviour, setting high standards and not tolerating substandard work especially in relation to rule and procedural based violations.

3) To monitor the performance of the assets for which the job holder is responsible (could be via OEE) and then drive improvements of the assets.

4) To conduct root cause analysis of all SHE and QA incidents within area of responsibility and to ensure that all SHE and QA actions assigned to the job holders responsibility are progressed against agreed timescales.

5) To ensure that all production plant, within area of responsibility, is in a fit state to operate following any construction, modification or maintenance activity.

6) To ensure all production plant is adequately manned and to assist in the selection and recruitment of new staff.

7) To eliminate or adequately control risks associated within the operation of the plant and communicate technical information internally on a regular basis.

8) To ensure that all plant is operated according to current operating procedures and that all products are manufactured according to current process instructions so that they meet specification. To ensure that products are made to the agreed production schedule and that stock control procedures are followed. On some sites this may include the purchase, management and control of ancillary materials products and services to ensure the assets run smoothly.

9) To provide plant and process troubleshooting skills to ensure that production downtime is kept to a minimum.


10) To investigate and carry out root cause analysis of plant problems and be proactive in anticipating such problems. Problem solving usually follows well determined guidelines but sometimes due to limited or contradictory evidence may require further investigation or assistance from management or other departments.

11) The job holder must have a deep technical understanding of the plant, processes and products. They will often be the first point of contact for any issues arising on plant and will therefore often be on some form of call out rota.

12) Desired profile of the candidate B Tech / from IIT with at least 3 years of experience in the Manufacturing Process/Operations

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities Required:


- To be able to propose improvements to working instructions.

- To be able to work to a high and consistent standard paying particular attention to detail.

- To be able to work well in a team and interact effectively with others.

- To be able to record and communicate data accurately in a number of paper & computer systems (e.g. SAP).

- To be able identify & solve problems that arise.

- To understand the relevant engineering and SHE legislation.

- To have deep understanding of the products, processes and plants.
