Key Responsibilities:
  • "Hands-on" Project Execution & Delivery: 50%-time commitment
  • o Partner with market researchers based in the Japan BUs for high-quality execution and on-time delivery of the market research projects covering the spectrum of activities including Pivotal (secondary) and Primary research, social listening, and Forecasting
  • o Serves as a trusted advisor by actively participating in various phases of the project including kick-off, approach development, execution, insight generation, and data visualizations
  • o For assigned projects may be required to:
  • Communicate with stakeholders to present the final outputs and provide recommendations.
  • Manage the data collection process with external agency partners to ensure data integrity and on-time delivery.
  • Provide appropriate context for study findings based on prior market research, including secondary sources.
  • o Attention to detail in every step of the market research process to ensure accurate, on-time deliverables.

  • o Identify projects related to Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • o Drive new capabilities within the team
  • o Work in close collaboration with internal commercial services functions (Analytics and Data Science) and external vendors to advance initiatives aiming to drive integrated insights, new capabilities, and operational excellence
  • Portfolio and People Management: 10-20%-time commitment
  • o Portfolio Management
  • Ensures quality, speed, value, and compliance throughout the market research and forecasting value chain
  • Ensures all research complies with company compliance policies.
  • Establishes project management for seamless project execution, prioritization, and high-quality delivery from the team
  • Allocates projects to team members to operate a full capacity
  • Supports creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality checklists that will enable excellent quality outputs for all outputs within the function
  • Facilitates shared learning forums to identify challenges and establish best practices across the team
  • Continues to expand the market research capability of the team by taking on more complex projects and delivering value.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and implementation of analytics & research best practices
People Management :

- Identifies, recruits, and selects top talent; manages new-hire onboarding.

- Monitors employee engagement and team health.

- Operationalize organizational goals for team members.

- Partners with direct reports to create individual development planning/action planning.


- Serves as a trusted career advisor, and works with Leadership and HR to identify career opportunities as appropriate.


- Coaches team members using the coaching framework by encouraging two-way dialogue and open feedback, listening actively, being flexible, and identifying knowledge, skill, and performance gaps.

- Provides consultative value and removes barriers so the team can focus on prioritized work and provide.

Education Requirements : MBA/Post Graduation in quantitative discipline from a reputed institution, or equivalent education and experience.

Experience related requirements :

- 10-12 years of market research and/or forecasting experience with a demonstrated ability to think strategically in an ambiguous environment.

- Up to 10 years of experience with commercial analytics.

- 2+ years of experience in coaching and mentoring individuals.

- Minimum 1.5 years tenure in current role.

- Strong experience in the Japanese pharma industry is required.

- Knowledge and exposure of Japan market.

- Proficiency in Japanese language will be an advantage.

- Technical Skills.

- Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.

- Strong forecasting, research, and analytical skills.

- Experience in methodologies such as segmentation, end-to-end concept testing.

- Experience in data visualization tools such as Tableau/ Power BI.

- Advanced MS-office skills (MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint).

- Soft Skills.

- Ability to showcase people's agility while dealing with peers/ direct reports.

- Strong work ethic, personal motivation, and team player who is dynamic and result oriented.

- Good presentation skills, interpersonal and communication skills.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to influence others.

- Ability to operate in a matrix environment, with ability to work across time zones.
