Description: The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for understanding and deriving insights from the data collected by the company. He/She would be responsible for maintaining the data and for building models from scratch using this data as also tuning and improving existing models as per business requirements. They would be expected to determine and articulate how insights derived from the models built should be used by various functions in the company. They would also be required to mentor junior colleagues with Data Science, Big Data and Analytics skills and help formulate a strategy for the Data Science and Analytics function of the company.
Background: The ideal candidate would have a degree in statistics, engineering or a related discipline and a passion or expertise in statistical analysis and has at least 3 years of experience working in areas such as predictive modeling, clustering, recommender systems, classification problems, forecasting and user profiling. They would be very comfortable working with massive unstructured data sets. The candidate should also have a good working knowledge of big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig etc. The candidate is expected to be able to analyze large amounts of data and should have the ability to work with an appropriate data warehouse solution to do so.
Requirements :
- At least 3 years of work experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or related roles is mandatory
- Expertise in recommendation systems, user profiling, and other machine learning and predictive modeling techniques is required
- Experience using machine learning algorithms, data analytics strong algorithmic thinking and good programming skills is required
- Ability to work with large data sets and to interpret them statistically is required
- Ability to understand and explain issues from both a technical and a business point of view is required
- Knowledge of statistical tools such as R, Python and strong problem solving skills is required
- Good knowledge of practical application of techniques such as Random Forests, Regression, Neural Networks, Clustering etc. across a range of business requirements required
- Ability to work with data warehousing solutions to meet large datasets and analysis requirements is expected
- Experience in working with big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig will be useful
- Good knowledge of statistical techniques. Proficiency in R and good experience with Numpy/Pandas/scikit-learn/Keras/Theano/TensorFlow (or similar) preferred
- Knowledge of various NLP techniques and image processing will be useful
- Experience working on BI tools such as Looker or Tableau will be useful
- Experience leading a team of data scientists or analysts will be preferred however being hands-on is expected
