Job Overview:
- The General Manager/AVP of Fabric Sourcing will oversee all aspects of fabric sourcing, focusing on woven and knit materials.
- This individual will drive cost and lead time optimization while ensuring top quality and innovation in fabric development.
- A key aspect of the role includes leadership of the sourcing teams, developing strong relationships with mills and process houses, and securing the most competitive pricing and lead times in the industry.
- The position is also responsible for improving fabric sourcing efficiency, developing alternative sourcing strategies, and achieving financial objectives such as cost reduction targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Woven & Knits Fabric Sourcing and Cost Negotiation:
- Manage sourcing for both woven and knit fabrics, ensuring competitive pricing and lead times.
- Lead cost negotiations with suppliers to achieve the most favorable terms while maintaining quality.
Quality Consciousness & Cost Awareness:
- Ensure all sourced fabrics meet the company's quality standards, aligning with design and product profiles.
- Drive cost awareness across the team, ensuring all sourcing decisions are both cost-effective and aligned with financial targets.
PCD & Lead Time Management:
- Monitor and manage the Pre-Confirmed Delivery (PCD) and lead times to ensure timely delivery of fabric to meet production schedules.
- Identify bottlenecks in the sourcing process and work to improve lead times without compromising quality.
Mill & Process House Relationships:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with fabric mills and process houses to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery.
- Evaluate and onboard new suppliers and manufacturing partners to diversify sourcing options.
Leadership:
- Lead a team of sourcing professionals for both knit and woven fabrics, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of innovation, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement within the team.
Cost & Lead Time Negotiation:
- Lead negotiations for price and lead times, ensuring cost competitiveness without compromising on quality or innovation.
- Collaborate with suppliers to reduce costs of raw materials by 2% annually.
- Development & Innovation of New Products:
- Work closely with the design and product development teams to align fabric sourcing with product innovation goals.
- Drive the development of new fabric innovations that meet the market's demands while staying aligned with design aesthetics.
- Develop and maintain alternate sources for non-nominated business to ensure flexibility and cost competitiveness.
- Evaluate and integrate alternative sourcing strategies to diversify supply risk.
-Oversee a nationwide sourcing strategy to ensure the most cost-effective and fastest development and bulk lead times.
- Identify regional opportunities to optimize sourcing and reduce lead times.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Fabric Expertise: In-depth knowledge of both woven and knit fabrics, including sourcing, costing, and negotiation.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate prices, lead times, and terms with suppliers while maintaining quality.
- Leadership Abilities: Experience in leading and managing cross-functional sourcing teams across geographies.
- Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with mills, process houses, and other key suppliers.
- Cost & Quality Awareness: Highly cost-conscious with a strong focus on achieving quality standards.
- Innovation & Development: Ability to work closely with design teams to foster innovation in fabric sourcing.
- Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.
- Process Improvement: Proven track record in driving efficiency in sourcing processes to optimize cost and lead time.
Performance Goals:
- Reduce fabric sourcing costs by 2% annually.
- Develop an alternate source for all non-nominated businesses.
- Shorten lead times and ensure on-time fabric delivery across all projects.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred).
- MBA or equivalent management qualification is a plus.
