Job Overview

Technical Consultants assume responsibility for architecture oversight and technical leadership during the course of technology development projects. The Technical Consultant would be responsible to conduct technical feasibility of new projects, recommending technical solutions in alignment to Technology roadmap, developing technical approach and high level estimates as part of project proposal. The persons will also be responsible for definition and maintenance of the FIL technical delivery method, comprising all aspects of project delivery from code standards and review process to unit test coverage and metrics reporting. It may undertake the solution architect role for assigned projects and collaborate with systems development teams to ensure the technical delivery is fully adopted in these organisations.

This role is for a Technical Consultant who can understand complex technical and architectural issues and has the ability to understand the implications associated with the chosen technical strategy. The successful candidate will be expected to interact with all levels of the technical and business community, seeking approval from all stakeholders of the projects.

Key responsibilities

- Work with the business analysts and enterprise architects to devise and propose the system solution to business problems or new opportunities; help prepare the proposals with the estimates and risks identification

- Perform project technical feasibility study and conduct technical solution workshops during the initial analysis phase

- Define, document and maintain the technical delivery method ensuring standardisation of all activities involved in the delivery of IT projects.

- For assigned projects, ensure all application construction or modification work associated with an assigned project is undertaken in compliance with technology roadmap provided by Enterprise Architect group

- For assigned projects, ensure that all project artefacts are constructed, compiled, packaged and documented in accordance with Technology development methodology, technical delivery method and quality gates

- Maintain knowledge of all Technology enterprise architecture developments and governance activities that impact technical delivery practices.

- Support and mentor delivery engineers who are interested in advancing to a solution architect role

- Undertake training and certification activities to maintain and document skills and safeguard ability to contribute to Technology objectives.

- Build trusted relationships with business partners and proactively seek feedback on systems processes and personal performance

Experience and qualifications

Necessary Skills are:

- B.E. / B.Tech. / MCA / MCM or equivalent (Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted) with at least 10 yrs of relevant industry experience

- ‘Hands on’ comprehensive experience of project lifecycle, with emphasis on architectural solution and data model

- Proven track record of high-quality project deliveries and technical achievements

- Sound experience in database, data warehouse, data mart, ODS concepts

- Proven technical leadership in Oracle/Sybase, Unix Scripting, Perl, Scheduling tools - Autosys/Control-M

- Exposure to Informatica (Experience in Developing Informatica Mappings)

- Experience of best practices development methodologies, including Agile/DSDM/XP

- Understanding of performance parameters and application tuning

- Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills

Preferable Skills are:

- Experience of re-engineering legacy Reporting systems

- Exposure to various third party reporting products and experience of integrating them into a systems solution.

- Configuration Management tools like SVN and ClearCase
