Job Summary
An individual contributor technical pre-sales position responsible for understanding key customer strategic goals and IT requirements, educating customer on Sun products & technologies to developing a Sun-based infrastructure solutions to meet customer requirements. This positions works closely with Sun Account Manager to co-manage the on-going relationship with key customers in key accounts.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provides regular updates of Sun products and technology to key customer account and demonstrates where and how these Sun products and technologies can apply to these customers.
- Reviews and influences existing customer strategic goals.
- Collects and prioritizes customer requirements with the customer.
- Translates customer requirements into a solution blueprint that demonstrates the requirements can be satisfied.
- Provides architectural leadership over a customer project life-cycle resulting from IT strategy and design initiatives.
- Provides product / solution / services expertise in pre-sales, including: solution positioning versus competition, technical and business value propositions, expected selling tactics by competition and recommended counter tactics, solution business value propositions, developing financial justifications for the solution.
- Articulates alternatives in terms of cost, benefit, and risk where multiple solutions exist.
- Participates in account planning and supporting sales efforts.
- Provides leadership in leading external and internal technical resources in pre-sales effort.
Essential Skills / Experience:
- Deep and broad technical knowledge of Sun products and solutions and the overall IT environment.
- Extensive technical knowledge within a specified domain (e.g., systems / storage design and implementation, application architecture etc).
- Knowledge of competitive environment and alternative technology solutions / approaches.
- Excellent understanding of open standards IT architectures, Data Centre Technologies, Storage Area Networks, Server/Storage Virtualsation, etc.
- Able to translate business requirements into technology strategy with clear business benefit in terms of Return of Investment (ROI),
- Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and delivery of business outcomes.
- Experience with large infrastructure projects at a system integration level.
- Ability to command the attention and have credibility with senior technical personnel, consultants, CTO's, and architects.
- Ability to clearly translate highly technical information to people of varying levels of technical aptitude.
- Ability to lead external and internal resources on pre-sales effort.
- Industry Certifications like CISSP, TOGAF, ITIL, Zachman Framework, etc
