Job Description: Operations Head (Spices Business, Vietnam)
Location: Bien Hoa, Vietnam

Summary:
The Operations Head will be responsible for overseeing the safe & efficient operations and On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery of products and services, meeting customer expectations and business needs. The business includes two large Spice Processing Plants located near Bien Hoa with a capacity to process 40,000 MT of Pepper and 10,000 MT of other Tropical Spices. In this critical role, leading manufacturing and technical services, the total team will be more than 600 employees. The role will have overall responsibility of production planning, scheduling, material planning, shipment, budgeting, human resources, training, optimization, workflows including quality and food safety meeting the metrics that matters around operations, employee and customer satisfaction. This role will translate the business goals to flawless execution and involves GMP, Operational Excellence tools, manufacturing costs, Digital, Sustainability, engineering and projects meeting short and long term goals.
Essential Functions & Principle Accountabilities:
- Oversee operations in two large Spice Plants servicing customers worldwide.
- Understand the business strategy for the spices business and develop a manufacturing strategy for the spices business, short and long term.
- Lead the people in the workforce through high energy, motivating attitude and through purposeful coaching
- Lead the occupational safety of the workforce through behavioral safety mindset within the workforce and continue the journey of Zero harm
- Lead the team from material planning to shipment ensuring maximum productivity of operations
- Oversee the Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Regulatory affairs, improve quality of the inventory and mitigate food safety risks.
- Improve manufacturing process controls to reduce food safety risks.
- Lead the team to meet the 'Metrics that Matters' ensuring manufacturing excellence.
- Build a team of manager and supervisors who will take high accountability for operational accomplishments.
- Be accountable for manufacturing costs & cost variance control through understanding of costs, budgeting and control of inputs costs and waste reduction.
- Identify cost improvements, strategic procurement of non-commodity, energy management, Digital initiatives and Automation.
- Identify new opportunities to add value to product and processes, continuous improvement, operational excellence tools, AM, lean manufacturing.
- Communicate operational achievements to the plant workforce and to the larger organization being a member of the MATS team.
- Lead the technical understanding of unit operations and lead the technology identification and capex based on future requirements of the business.
- Aspire to be an exceptional manufacturing leader within the MATS team for Spices and for the company.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's/ Master's Degree in Engineering
- Must have a minimum of 15-20 years in running manufacturing operations within food industry
- Relevant experience in running medium to large operations covering multiple unit operations and departments.
- Must have experience to lead a large workforce and oversight over safety, operational efficiency and OTIF requirements of the business.
- MUST have proven ability to interact with all stakeholders as a team player.
- Experience in driving strategic goals for production as well as overseeing daily operational activities to ensure stability and efficiency in all steps delivering consistently meeting customer requirements
- A proven people leader utilizing coaching and training tools to energize, motivate and lead a workforce utilizing HR interventions when required within the operations.
- Applicant must be creative, pro-active, have the ability to "think outside the box" and accept or create new ideas and take calculated risks on new products and process development.
- Presentation & articulation skills with customers in Europe, US & Asia/Pacific region & senior management within Olam.
