Data Science is core to what Nielsen does, and our research projects have high visibility in directly impacting the results of our business and our clients. This position will be with Product Enhancement Team and the role requires reviewing and signing off on data science responsibilities for South Asia and active participation in new product conceptualization and deployment
Job Responsibilities
- Define and lead all analyses to support Innovation initiatives, methodology development, KPI development/ implementation, standards and best practices.
- Leads prototyping (what - ifs) as well as supporting pilot programs for R&D purposes. The primary areas includes - but not limited to - statistical modeling, predictive analytics, optimization, trend analyses, identifying gaps for improvements in coverage, representation/ sampling, bias reduction, indirect estimation, data integration, automation, generalization, and harmonization.
- Partners with Product Leadership in the development of new product ideations, including identification/evaluation of data sources, authoring methodologies, and building out product features.
- Plays a key role in product development from beginning to end; including developing/running models, determination of the model application, and summarizing/presenting results.
- Work with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and test new consumer measurement methodologies.
- Identify and address risks for major quality escapes.
- Collaboratively create and manage projects, from timeline creation to project completion, managing expectations with manager and customer.
- Serves as liaison between Client Service, Product Leadership, Operations, and Technology with regards to internal client projects.
- Compiling and delivering documentation material such as power point slides for methodology questions and/or frequently asked questions; supporting basic client service duties as needed; and participating in team projects and staff meetings.
- Design and test data collection methodologies for Nielsen panels and surveys.
- Represents Data Science in meetings and interactions with other Nielsen departments
- Ensures that the team addresses the client's needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Role Requirements: E=essential, P=preferred.
- E- Masters degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Operation Research, or other hard sciences (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, Physics etc.) with outstanding analytical expertise and strong technical leader.
- E- 7- 10 years of relevant experience
- P- Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
- E- Experience in trend analyses, multivariate statistics (parametric/ non-parametric), optimization techniques, and machine learning
- P- Intermediate / Advanced R skills
- E- Knowledge in SQL, working with Algorithms, and large-scale databases.
- E- Strong communication/writing skills
- P- Demonstrates experience in Nielsen methodologies, data collection, platforms, research processes and operations.
- P- Domain expert in at least one area: Statistics Modeling, Retail Measurement, Audience Measurement, Data Integration and/or Digital Measurement.
- P- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, etc)
