Navneet FutureTech - Data Scientist - IIT/NIT/BITS

Navneet FutureTech Ltd (NFL) is a 100% subsidiary of Navneet Education Limited (NEL) and is the consolidated EdTech vehicle for the Navneet Group. The plan is to leverage the strong levers of NEL with a new team which has focussed digital skills. We are investing heavily in Data Science to ensure that we build the right data culture to leverage the millions of data points that we get from all our customers across the Navneet Group. A brief note of our business is enclosed.

Job Title: Data Scientist

Location : Mumbai

Role:

Understand complex and critical business problems from multiple business functions, formulate integrated analytical approach to mine data sources, employ statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to discover actionable insights and build high quality prediction systems integrated with our products; and automate processes for reducing effort and time for repeated use.

High agility to be able to work across various business functions (strategy, marketing, sales, operations).

Responsibilities

- Work on a variety of business applications including but not limited to: Customer Segmentation, Lead Conversion, Propensity/Churn Modelling, Customer Lifetime Value Estimation, Forecasting, Recommender Systems, Price Optimization

- Develop automation for repeatedly refreshing analysis and generating insights

- Collaborate with widely dispersed internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to solve critical business problems and deliver successfully on high visibility strategic initiatives

- Quickly learn the use of tools, data sources and analytical techniques needed to answer a wide range of critical business questions

- Articulate solutions/recommendations to business users. Work with chief data scientist to present analytical content concisely and effectively

- Manage own tasks and work with allied team members; plan proactively, anticipate and actively manage change, set stakeholder expectation as required

- Identify operational risks and independently drive issues to resolution, minimize surprise escalations

- Independently identify research articles and reproduce/apply methodology to business problems

- Has high learning agility and diligently follows updates in industry and area of work

Personality Profile

Absolute Strengths

- Deep Understanding of Statistical and Machine Learning techniques for Classification (RF, GBM, XGBoost, Logistic), Regression (esp., GLM, non-linear, etc.) and Clustering (K-Means, Heirarchical, kNN)

- Extensive experience required in Python - ScikitLearn, Pandas, Seaborn

- Business Hypothesis Building and Data Solution Formulation

Beneficial Strengths

- Machine Learning on unstructured data, Recommender Systems (collaborative filtering)

- Regular Expressions, Text Mining and Natural Language Processing (NLP)

- Time series modelling, Forecasting (ARIMA)

- Exposure to Deep Learning methodology and implementation - Tensorflow, Keras

Experience (Industry type & Duration):

Essential: 5+ years in Data Science

Preferred: Have had formulated high impact actionable recommendations and insights through Machine Learning applications and positively transformed businesses

Qualification :

Essential : Bachelor's Degree in Engg/Comp Science IIT/NIT/Top Tier Engg

Preferred : Masters in Computer Science/Statistics
