Role Overview:

The National Sales Manager (NSM) will be responsible for leading and managing the sales team across India. The NSM will oversee the development and implementation of sales strategies, manage the performance of regional and area sales managers, and drive the achievement of sales targets. The role requires a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively across various regions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Team Management:

- Lead and manage a nationwide team of over 1,000 sales professionals across diverse regions.

- Develop and implement strategies to enhance team performance, drive sales growth, and align with the company's vision and objectives.

- Mentor, train, and support Sales Managers and Zonal Sales Managers, fostering a high-performing sales organization.

2. Sales Strategy & Execution:

- Design and implement a comprehensive national sales strategy aimed at exceeding revenue targets.

- Continuously monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving corrective actions.

- Collaborate with marketing team to ensure that sales strategies align with overall brand objectives.

3. Hospital and Shop-in-Hospital Channel Management:

- Oversee sales operations within hospital and shop-in-hospital channels, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders in healthcare institutions.

- Develop and execute initiatives to increase market penetration and brand visibility within these channels.

4. Sales Operations:

- Oversee sales operations including forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation.

- Ensure the effective implementation of sales plans across all regions.

- Monitor sales performance against targets and take corrective actions when necessary.

- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, distributors, and internal teams.

5. Customer Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, healthcare professionals, and industry stakeholders.

- Ensure customer satisfaction and address any issues or concerns promptly.

6. P&L and Budget Management:

- Assume full P&L responsibility for the division, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance evaluation.

- Ensure efficient resource allocation and adherence to financial plans, with a focus on maximizing profitability.

7. Market Research & Analysis:

- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to guide strategic decisions.

- Leverage data analytics and market insights to refine sales strategies, enhance product positioning, and improve ROI.

8. Cross-functional Collaboration:

- Promote strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and supply chain, ensuring seamless operational execution and strategic alignment.

- Provide regular updates to senior management on sales performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives, with actionable recommendations for business growth.

9. Business Development & Innovation:

- Identify and capitalize on long-term business opportunities, proactively addressing market shifts and potential challenges.

- Drive innovation in business models and contribute to the strategic planning of the division to ensure sustained growth.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent qualification in Sales & Marketing is preferred.

Experience:

- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales with at least 3-5 years in a national or senior regional sales management role.

- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing large sales teams.

- Skills:

- Strong leadership and team management skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and market dynamics.

- Ability to analyze data and market trends to make informed decisions.

- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
