Mwyn Tech - Data Scientist - Credit Modelling Domain

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist (4+ years experience) who will help us discover information hidden in vast amounts of data and help us make smarter decisions. Your primary focus will be in doing statistical analysis, applying data mining techniques and building high quality prediction systems that will integrate with our products.

An important focus area will be the development of next generation credit decisioning and risk models that will enable the company to effectively provide credit to a large under-served population in India. Other areas include leveraging data to improve the marketing funnel, various classification problems, fraud detection etc.

This is an early team with - 15 team members currently. Tremendous opportunity for anyone joining us this early!

Responsibilities

Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques

Data mining using state-of-the-art methods

Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner

Extending company's data with third party sources of information when needed

Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems

Back-testing of new models and working with engineering teams to get systems to production.

Skills and Qualifications :

Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.

Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.

Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy etc. Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable.

Experience in Credit modelling domain is desirable.

Great communication skills :

Experience with data visualisation tools, such as GGplot, etc.

Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig

Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase is a plus.

Good scripting and programming skills. Aid in effectively integrating techniques and solutions developed with the base application. Python/Java skills are desirable.

Data-oriented personality, ability to work with high level objectives and formalising approaches and solutions.

Phd/Masters/Bachelors in CS/Applied Math/Stats - good exposure to Applied Math/Statistics and good real world experience in solving problems using ML techniques.
