Title: Senior Associate – Business Management Unit
Location: Mumbai
Position Overview
- The individual will be part of the Index Business Management team and will be supporting the development of the business in EMEAI (Europe, Middle East, Africa and India)
- Reporting to the Head of Index BMU for EMEAI, this position has some focus on ETFs
- The MSCI Equity Indices are licensed to over 2,000 clients worldwide, including Asset Managers, Pension Funds, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Broker Dealers, Hedge Funds, Private Banks
- The MSCI Indices are used as benchmarks for mutual funds, and are key tools in the equity investment process. The MSCI indices are widely used as the basis for financial products, such as ETFs, passive funds, futures and options.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Will support and work with the regional Index BMU, currently based between Mumbai, London and Paris
- Analyze the various aspects of the index and ETF business, through gathering of facts and data, internal and external, with the objective of supporting and further defining the strategy in EMEAI (client segment, geography).
- The individual will work closely with other BMU team members as well as internal departments (research, finance, operations, sales), locally and globally
- Interact with the Sales organization in Europe, Africa, Middle East, India where MSCI has sales representatives
- Interact with a variety of clients
- This is a highly visible position and an opportunity to contribute to the development of the MSCI index business in EMEAI including in India
Ideal Candidate
- The candidate must have business developing experience, excellent communication and presentation skills and first-hand knowledge of the equity market and asset management industry
- A previous sell side and/or ETF provider experience would be highly preferable
- Capacity to take initiative and work independently
- Possibly some experience abroad, working or studying
- Masters degree
Possible Backgrounds
- Banking (trading, sales, structuring), fund management, analyst, business development
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of work experience in the industry with a good understanding of fund management investment process and trading (equities)
- Team player with confidence to work with multifunctional teams
- Strong communication skills, high attention to details and problem solving skills, capacity to work independently
- Advanced degree from a highly-regarded institution
