We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Research Editor to join our team. The Research Editor will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, credibility, and completeness of research materials, publications, and articles. This role involves collaborating with writers, researchers, and editors to verify facts, validate sources, and maintain high standards of quality in all published content.
Responsibilities:
- Verify the accuracy of factual information presented in written content, including statistics, quotes, dates, names, and historical events.
- Assess the credibility and reliability of sources cited in articles and research materials to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Review written content for clarity, coherence, and adherence to editorial guidelines, flagging any inaccuracies or inconsistencies for correction.
- Provide support to writers and researchers by conducting supplementary research, gathering additional data, and identifying relevant sources.
- Cross-reference information with multiple sources to confirm accuracy and identify discrepancies or contradictions that require clarification.
- Ensure that written content adheres to the designated style guide, including grammar, punctuation, formatting, and referencing standards.
- Collaborate closely with writers, editors, and other team members to address feedback, incorporate revisions, and maintain consistency across all content.
- Manage workload efficiently to meet tight deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
- Stay informed about current events, industry trends, and relevant research developments to contribute insights and maintain up-to-date knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
- Strong research skills with the ability to evaluate sources critically and discern credible information.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision.
- Proficiency in fact-checking techniques and familiarity with research methodologies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with style guides such as AP, Chicago, or MLA.
- Previous experience in editing, proofreading, or research roles is preferred.
- Knowledge of specific subject areas relevant to the organization's focus is a plus.
