Monsanto - Lead - State Government Affairs

- Track policy developments and implications; develop advocacy plans for enabling policy environment

- Track policy developments in various states; understand nuances and implications of these developments relevant to Monsanto's current & future activities in India.

- Understand strategic imperatives of growth for the India business and key enablers at state government levels to unlock potential with focus on policy environment

- Educate internal (Monsanto) stakeholders about policies and their implications

- Develop and lead advocacy for affirmative and enabling policy environment

- Lead development of policy positions (including position papers, thought-leadership based white papers, studies & research papers) and supporting documentation related to key issues; develop policy related talking points & briefings for external audiences

- Relationship Management with Government & Policy Stakeholders:

- Develop a Government Affairs strategy aimed at positioning Monsanto as a - thought leader- in agriculture, focused on India and sustainable relationship building

- Build and manage relationships with Government stakeholders including politicians and bureaucrats across relevant Ministries in Union Government and State Governments, Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies and leading opinion leaders including political leaders across parties

- Engage with external policy groups, allied associations, think tanks, opinion influencers, and development institutions to leverage their voice for progressive policy advocacy

- Other Responsibilities:

- Establish metrics and track progress with respect to stakeholder relationships and policy advocacy

- Manage Policy & Industry Affairs budget

- Represent Monsanto at relevant briefings, conferences and other external events involving policy dialogue

- Participate in internal cross-functional teams focused on Monsanto's Freedom-to-Operate & Reputation imperatives

- Develop larger value chain platforms for Cotton, Corn, Vegetables- and Data science in Agriculture in collaboration internal and external stakeholders in various states; leverage these platforms for progressive policy environment for industry and Monsanto

- Team Growth & Development:

- Work as a key leader within the Government Affairs team and assist in team building and individual development

- Develop succession plan and groom succession candidate(s).
