ROLE OBJECTIVE:

As the R&D head, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the development of new technologies, products, and processes to improve bitumen quality and performance in flexible pavements. Lead and drive innovation in the field of Bitumen Application & Processing and asphalt pavement technology.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead and manage the R&D and Quality division focused on bitumen processing, asphalt pavement technology, and bitumen testing.

- Design and implement innovative research projects and processes related to asphalt mix design, advanced bitumen testing, and pavement failure analysis.

- Develop and optimize bitumen products and solutions for road construction and maintenance.

- Ensure technical excellence in flexible pavement designs, bitumen modification techniques, and asphalt binder performance under various environmental conditions.

- Oversee and manage failure analysis of flexible pavements, ensuring the identification of root causes and developing strategies to mitigate future issues.

- Collaborate with industry experts, academia, and other stakeholders to keep the organization at the forefront of asphalt technology and bitumen innovations.

- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Quality & Sales team, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

- Ensure all research aligns with industry regulations, sustainability standards, and best practices.

- Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, consultants, contractors, and other partners in the field of road construction and infrastructure.

- Publish and present findings in relevant scientific journals and industry conferences to enhance the company's reputation in the field.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

- At least 10-15 years of experience in bitumen processing, asphalt pavement design, and research & development.

- Advanced knowledge in bitumen and asphalt materials, mix design, performance testing, and pavement distress analysis.

- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment for bitumen testing such as dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), rotational viscometer (RV), Brookfield viscometer, and performance grade (PG).

- Strong understanding of pavement engineering, material characterization, and environmental factors influencing pavement performance.

- Expertise in computational modelling and simulation tools for pavement design and bitumen testing is a plus.

- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of engineers and researchers.

- Strong problem-solving skills, with an innovative mindset focused on developing solutions to industry challenges.

- Effective communication skills - both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

- Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Education:

- PhD in Asphalt Technology, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field with a focus on asphalt pavements or bitumen processing.

- M.Tech in Asphalt-related courses is also acceptable, with strong experience in pavement engineering.
