Role of an Ideal Principal - Junior College

To lead the Junior College operations in line with the vision and mission of the organization, thus ensuring high levels of quality to optimise parent satisfaction and enable the centre to be sustainable. To serve as the chief administrator of a Junior College in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.

Reporting to :

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - as per the Organisation Structure

Academic Operations :

- Responsible for educational leadership, internal organization, management, control, development and success of the Junior College

- Establish and promote high academic standards and expectations for all students and staff

- Fulfillment of Academic Curriculum Goals. Effectively co-ordinate with the curriculum and academic teams or corporate office for any updates and changes in curriculum

- Research and Development involvement - Regular Teacher training with the help of Management

- Determining priorities for instructional purposes involving Teaching Team.

- Delegation of responsibilities and advising on how to maintain records

- Ensure the monitoring and recording of student progress

- Supervising and monitoring Junior Colleges activities, staff (teaching and non-teaching) and student development

- Evaluating the standards of teaching and learning in the Junior College.

- Effectively manage various parent events like parent orientation, PTM, Annual day/sports day, student events like Children's day, term end party, yearend party, field trips, inter house competition and teachers events .

- Oversee the execution of the Sports and Performing Arts Programme as per guidelines.

- Identifying intellectual, physical, social and emotional needs of students- success in Junior College and taking appropriate steps to direct and coordinate the efforts of teachers and parents.

- Effectively manage parent teacher association and respective committees and ensure parent delight during all parent interfaces with the Junior College management.

- Effectively handle parent concerns as and when escalated by the relationship/marketing cell.

- Active participation in PTA workshops

- Responsible for planning Junior College functions and events

Human Resource Management:

- Promote staff development. Participation in the selection and appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff and accountability for recruited staff

- Effectively work with Central HR Team to recruit efficient resources within the prescribed time frame

- Ensure proper standards of professional performance management competency mapping for teachers are established and maintained

- Teacher observation and reporting to ensure improvement in teacher performance

- Supervise and participate in the conduct appraisal of all teaching staff as part of an agreed performance management program. Control of record and supporting documents.

- Facilitate in KRA decision making of staff

- Assigning roles and responsibilities of all teaching and non-teaching staff employed in the Junior College

- Create and foster a culture of conducive environment at every level with respect to teachers & students and promote responsible stewardship in order to ensure that the educational objectives are delivered and the morale of the Junior College community is maintained to expected standards.

- Co-ordinate with the various departments for the smooth functioning of Junior College operations

- Establish and maintain good working relationship between Students & Teachers, Parents & Teachers, Entire Junior College staff, in order to build good relations and favourably project the image of the Junior College

- Effectively ensure that the staff is optimally engaged at all points in time.

- Effectively guide and motivate teachers to derive their best.

- Effectively ensure that there is maximum adherence to HR Policies.

- Effectively control attrition

- Ensure teaching and non-teaching staff are taken through induction program at regular intervals.

- Promote staff welfare

Administration Operations:

- Provide strategic leadership for Junior College Administration and Development

- Coordinate and supervise the administration activities.

- Responsible for supervision of all documentation work

- Guiding the Ministerial staff towards apt compliance with State Governmental Procedures from time to time.

- Guiding affiliation-related activities and checking that appropriate records are maintained in Junior Colleges.

- Ensure adherence to the organizational policies for their implementation

- Offer solutions and suggestions regarding compliance to various authorities.

- Notify immediately the Board, and appropriate personnel and agencies when there is evidence of child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions etc.

- Establish procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities, with proper attention to the visual and acoustic.

- Maintaining effective communication with students, staff and parents & all external people related to the functioning of the Junior College

- Effectively guide the Relationship Cell team to resolute parent concerns/queries.

- Effectively prepare and optimize the budget for entire Junior College operation by liaisoning with the management and control costs.

- Supplies and Equipment: manages, directs, and maintains records on the materials, supplies and equipment which are necessary to carry out the daily Junior College routine

- Liaison with the management for the security and effective supervision and maintenance of the Junior College premises.

- Guiding and Checking with the accounts department to see that the Fee Payments are maintained

- Ensuring the maintenance of good order and discipline at all times

- Preparation and presentation of Junior College annual report

- Any other assignments as directed by the managing committee

Admission Management:

- Guide and mentor the marketing team to augment marketing efforts & helping in enrolment of students as well as how to address parent questions

- Be Growth Oriented for Junior College in terms of students, academics, HSC & result oriented for JEE/NEET/Mains/IIT and all the relevant competitive career options for Higher Secondary Students

- Ability to identify hurdles and resolve in the goals
