Position Title : Data Analyst - Unit Manager Function


Responsibility Level : Corporate Functions - Transformation Practices

Reports to (Responsibility Level) : Mgr / Sr Mgr - MLW Lean CoE

Location : GSS, Noida

Position Summary : The selected candidates will be part of the Enterprise Lean CoE team, based at the GOSC Noida, and will work as an extension of Lean MetLife Way CoE team, headquartered in New York which drives Lean initiatives targeting business process enhancements, reduced number of errors and faster cycle times resulting in greater efficiencies and lower costs across US operations.

The nature of work will include (but is not limited to) :

Data Analytics :

- Interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques

- Developing and implementing- data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality

- Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases

- Exposure to analytics tools like Qlikview, QlikSense, Domo, etc. will be helpful

Automation using Excel VBA skills :

- Building new macros to automate multiple manual processes within operation across various functions like processing, confirmation etc.

- Investigate production issues on the existing macros and provide support to operations users.

- Liaising with users to understand the macro automation requirement and preparing a requirement and technical document.

- Maintenance of efficient process and inventory of Macros.Ad hoc problem resolution.

The candidate should be open and willing for short travel at MetLife locations as required.

Job Responsibilities :

- Independently work on complex level data gathering, validation, manipulation and analytics

- Interact with business teams to understand core Insurance-related aspects and provide analytics support

- Automate Excel reporting work by using VBA coding

- Automate creation of charts/pivots using VBA coding

- Ability to analyze complex data and draw accurate conclusions/inferences and recommend changes

- Analyzes data to provide analytics and insights along with periodic leading MIS to the senior management.

- Ability to create Business Intelligence dashboards & reports.

- Understand ad-hoc requirements, as and when received, and plan delivery efforts accordingly

- Conducting telephonic interviews, analyze requirements, analyze survey data and extract required information to present survey findings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Education : Bachelor's degree (Any Stream) or diploma

Experience :


- 5 - 8 years of experience in a similar role preferably in Insurance Industry

- Knowledge of Claims handling will be given a preference

- Knowledge and skills (general and technical)


Tools :

- Domo

- Qlikview

- Qliksense

- Excellent knowledge of MS Office & Excel in Particular (Aggregate ofunctions, Pivots, Formatting, Tables, Others (outline, sorting, validation, text to columns, lookups, VBA coding)

- Exposure to advanced excel and macro writing

- Excellent PowerPoint skill & designing PPT, and Excel Dashboarding

- Should have skills to analyze & understand the data and provide inputs on variances and others as required.

- Good Analytical, Problem Solving Approach

- Good written and oral communication skills

- Ability to establish priorities and handle multiple assignments concurrently with minimal direction in an evolving, fast paced work environment

- Ability to handle multiple tasks / Managing Self / Adaptability

- Ability to work successfully in production driven environment

- Preferably having some survey analytics experience

Other Requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training if required) :

- Exposure & development experience to analytical tools(QlikView/ Domo) and other BI tools will be an added advantage

- Lean / Green Belt certification will be an added advantage

Working Relationships :

Internal Contacts (and purpose of relationship ):

- Other teams UM/Mgrs for the purpose of seeking guidance and training

- SDL for the purpose of settling issues left unresolved by the UM/Ms and monthly/quarterly evaluation of performance

External Contacts (and purpose of relationship) :

- Interact with State Side stakeholders to understand the business requirements

- Deliver to the expectations of the client.
