Menterra - Principal - Financial Research

Menterra is seeking a Principal Consultant with the following key responsibilities:

Research-led origination:

- Conduct detailed sector research - agriculture, healthcare and education.

- Build thought leadership for Menterra in target sector and the impact space by

- Publishing articles and reports directly relevant to Menterra's core objectives.

- Develop themes that will address big problems in the target sectors and deliver market-level returns and impact.

- Identify investment targets with focus on research led origination.

- Develop a proprietary network and independently create proprietary deals.

- Manage the deal pipeline and market intelligence.

Underwriting:

- Conduct comprehensive diligence including the team, business, operations, technology, legal, financial and impact related areas.

- Underwrite business plan alongside the operating team and the investee.

- Develop and negotiate the investment structure and terms.

- Prepare proposals for investment committee approval.

- Manage the deal closure.

Portfolio Management:

- Use own network to support the entrepreneur and the asset management team to address the talent gap.

- Proactively work to address the capital needs of the investee companies.

- Ensure that the investing, operating and impact metrics are laid out and reported by the company at the desired frequency.

- Lead monthly reviews with investees. Support the asset management team to develop and execute solutions.

- Participate in the board meetings as a fund representative. Support the fund nominee to effectively carry the board responsibilities.

- Manage competitive benchmarking.

Exit management:

- Develop and lead risk management protocols to ensure that all potential risks to the investment are identified and addressed well ahead of time.

- Proactively develop potential tangible liquidity markers and work with the asset management team to prepare the company for exit.

Does this Sound Like You?

Must Haves:

- 8+ years of relevant experience comprising of advanced financial and business modeling skills, and advanced research and analytical skills.

- Prior experience in the agriculture and/or healthcare sectors.

- In-depth experience in research-led origination, underwriting, portfolio management, exit management.

Preferred:

- Prior experience in start-up investment.

- Demonstrated commitment to building a career in the for-profit impact investment space.

- Team management experience.
