About the Team:
- Grocery has the biggest share of the overall retail spend in India and is projected to be an $800B market in 2024-25, of which the majority contribution comes from non-Metro cities. The grocery market in Metro has become crowded with a lot of players trying to solve the supply chain but the higher cost of logistics restricts these players to disrupt the lower tier cities.
- At Superstore, we are building the most cost-effective distribution channel to disrupt the grocery market in lower tier (non-Metro) cities of India which is currently dominated by offline players. We are onto the journey of creating a hyperlocal marketplace for grocery and solving the intermediate inefficiencies in the distribution system.Superstore is an early-stage mini start-up within Meesho with a completely different supply chain and modus operandi. We are a bunch of high-energy enthusiasts working towards creating something cool and something big.
About the Role:
- As a Manager - Sourcing & Procurement, Staples, you'll work with the Staples Category team of Superstore to identify and onboard millers or traders for non branded pure staple products (Dals, Sugar, Flours, Cereals, Rice & Rice products, Spices, Dry Fruits).
- You will operate as the key POC for Vendor identification, onboarding and price negotiations to help the category launch new products and operate at required margin levels.
What you will do?
- Understand the value chain dynamics, determine the target supplier profile (business, operational, aspirational & people alignment)
- Define lead generation framework and playbook for identification of key seller profiles for different product lines.
- Onboard new vendors post initial price negotiations and contract signing.
- Create a pool of sellers for every product line to ensure pricing goodness and business continuity.
- Collaborate with Cat-Ops and supply chain teams to streamline the operational interdependencies between the supplier and Orgs supply chain.
- Support the category team with key on-ground intel on price fluctuations/ market dynamics.
What you will need?
- 3-4 Years of total work experience, with at least 2+ years of experience in staples/grocery sourcing function in large offline/ e-commerce grocery organisations.
- Proven problem-solving and project management skills.
- Strong first principle thinking to challenge the status quo in the market and identify new opportunities in the market.
- Excellent people and persuasion skills to confidently interface with 50-500 crore annual turnover business proprietors, articulate the value proposition, align them to the desired business terms.
- Strong bias for action and passion for a 0-1 business.
- Strong track record with proven growth in the current organisation.
- Strong business judgement, instincts, and organisational skills.
- Readiness to travel 70% of the time during initial 6 months and 50% of the time subsequently.
