Tax Manager - Both Direct and Indirect Taxes

Meenakshi is a coal fired project in Andhra Pradesh, India with 2 x 150 MW in operation and 2x 350 MW under construction. The HQ is in Hyderabad.

General Areas Of Responsibilities:-

- Compliance with both Direct and Indirect Tax laws in India.

- Liaison with Tax offices both at Hyderabad and at Nellore Site to understand the pending tax matters and to comply with the requirements.

Reporting Line The Tax Manager will report to Head - Accounts & Taxation

Key Roles and Responsibilities:-

1. Ensure compliance with Tax Laws in India and develop best practices incl.

- Review / Verification of correct applicability of Taxes (both direct & indirect) for purchases / services

- Ensure compliance of tax payments on due dates

- Filing of Tax returns/ forms before due dates - Monthly, Quarterly and Annually.

- Submission of information called for by Tax authorities in time

- Completing the assessments (both Direct & Indirect)

2. To provide support to the management in the following areas

- Input for Placing Orders / PPA negotiations and tariff setting

- Input over coal supply agreements

- Input for availing the tax / duty benefits applicable to the company.

3. Applies industry knowledge and leadership to support the management in the following areas

- Preparation of Tax computations & other provide inputs to management on various tax matters

- Tax planning

- Tax reporting

4. Motivate & train Accounts staff at HQ and at Site to ensure compliance of tax laws by Meenakshi.

Education:-

- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) / Cost Accountant (ICWA)

- Any complementary qualification in taxation is a plus.

Language:-

- Fluent in writing and speaking English.

- Hindi, Telugu a plus.

Experience:-

- Min 7/10 years as Tax Manager, of which minimum 3 years in the power sector or any other infrastructure industry. Experience working for a large company is preferred.

- Experience of handling Tax matters - Both Direct and Indirect Taxes

- Experience of handling import procedures

- Experience of handling tax litigations / assessments

- Good knowledge on applicable current tax laws in India.

- Willingness to contribute beyond its function.

Time and Location:-

- The position is a full time job.

- The position is located in Hyderabad with flexibility to travel.

- This position will require travel within India.
