Job Purpose:

- Plan, direct, or coordinate the storage or distribution operations within an organization or the activities of organizations that are engaged in storing or distributing materials or products.

- Develop or implement plans for storage and distribution activities that emphasize technological solutions for sustainability, such as investment in smart or eco-friendly containers, dynamic distribution networks, warehouse renovations, or fuel efficient fleets.

- Develop storage and distribution models that include factors such as warehouse locations, customer locations, or available transportation modes to maximize operational efficiency or sustainability.

- Plan, develop, or implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities.

- Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials.

- Prepare and manage departmental budgets.

- Issue shipping instructions and provide routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated.

- Confer with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities, such as production, sales, records control, or purchasing.

- Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments.

- Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets, or equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements.

- Schedule or monitor air or surface pickup, delivery, or distribution of products or materials.

- Respond to customers' or shippers' questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services.

- Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.

- Develop or implement plans for facility modification or expansion, such as equipment purchase or changes in space allocation or structural design.

- Track and trace goods while they are en route to their destinations, expediting orders when necessary.

- Negotiate with carriers, warehouse operators, or insurance company representatives for services and preferential rates.

- Arrange for necessary shipping documentation and contact customs officials to effect release of shipments.

- Evaluate freight or inventory costs associated with transit times to ensure that costs are appropriate.

- Advise sales and billing departments of transportation charges for customers' accounts.

- Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations.

- Evaluate locations for new warehouses or distribution networks to determine their potential usefulness.

- Participate in setting transportation and service rates.

- Examine products or materials to estimate quantities or weight and type of container required for storage or transport.

- Arrange for storage facilities when required.

- Evaluate contractors or business partners for operational efficiency or safety or environmental performance records.

- Evaluate the environmental implications of new warehouses or distribution networks.

Process Safety:

- To ensure day to day operations of the stores functions are carried out in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.

- Ensure that the stores and stocks are scrutinized by proper fire fighting systems and insurance coverage.

- Ensure safe upkeep and storage of fuels, chemicals and spares.

- To impart training to personnel operating stores on safety and handling of fire fighting appliances. - Level of stock that is maintained below the cycle stock to buffer against stock-outs.

- Percentage of safety stock used in measurement period.

Process Maintenance:

a) Maintain and protect the inventory received in the stores.

b) Maintain close liaison with purchase department to maintain minimum stocks as required for smooth business operations.

c) To maintain and co operate weigh bridges in good condition.

d) Carry out calibration of weigh bridges in the required periodicity and maintain records. Accuracy of the book inventory versus the counted inventory.

- The (average) age of each product in stock.

- Inventory on-hand divided by average monthly usage.

- Percentage of inventory items with incorrect stock balances.

- Inactive inventory as a percentage of inventory value.

Process Support:

- Extend necessary support to facilitate quick inspection by indenters of goods / material received at stores.

- Coordinate with transporters and gate security for smooth receipt of material and dispatch of materials.

- Ensure upkeep of insurance spares and coordinate with maintenance department for carrying out prevention procedures as recommended by OEM's in time. Inspection reports

- Amount of time required to achieve a certain substantial improvement concerning equipment acquisition.

Process Conversance:

- Conversant with engineering material codification to identify and affect correct material issues.

- Conversant with the material test certificates and documentation required to accept the material in stores.

- Conversant with international standard signage and implementing the same.

- Conversant with sale in transit and documentation with respect to road permits and other related statutory laws of the country. Percentage of correctly picked line items.

- % of accuracy in physical stock against system stock

- Average dock-to-stock time for inspection/testing.

Process Management:

- To receive, store, retrieve and disbursement of material and related reporting.

- To ensure that the receipts and issues are monitored regularly.

- Make available the goods / material to O & M of plant at all times.

- To carry out regularly the audits and intimate indenters the status of non moving stocks.

- Warehouse space utilization percentage.

- Periodic costs of managing processes, usually based on the number of Full Time Equivalents (FTEs) involved in management functions for processes.

- Fixed and operational costs associated with the Plan, Source, Make, and Deliver supply chain processes.

Education & Skills:

Essential: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / MBA in Material Management

Specialization : Material Management

Desirable: Inventory Management

Desirable Certification: Diploma in material management

- Working knowledge of SAP and Hyperion to enable data extract and reconciliation

- Good knowledge on applicable current material transportation laws in India.

Experience:

- Minimum 5 years of exposure in material management process in site environment in Energy or EPC sector

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and hands on experience with systems software packages such as SAP, Tally, Thompson, or equivalent general data software.

- Experience with Enterprise resource planning ERP software.

- Experience of handling Inventory management software.

- Experience of handling Materials requirements planning logistics and supply chain software

- Experience of handling Time accounting software
