MeasureOne - Product Engineering Architect

Background

The student loan market represents one of the most important, yet least understood, segments in the US financial services industry. After mortgages, student loans are the largest consumer-lending category, even larger than credit cards.

MeasureOne, an information and services company headquartered in San Francisco, was created to provide vital data and resulting insight to all who participate in this important market. We build proprietary databases and provide data, analytics software, and services related to students and student loans. Role

As the technical architect, you- ll be responsible for defining and building the overall software infrastructure. Your focus would be on quality and timely delivery of our products along with driving our software engineering roadmap.

Because you- ll be working from start to finish on each project, it's essential to understand all aspects of each system, from both a business and technical point of view. This means having a full working knowledge of technologies such as UNIX, Oracle, SQL Server and TCP/IP for example, as well as knowledge of one or more programming languages. Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Work with business and technology leaders on identifying the business and technology needs

- Drive and deliver product releases across multiple, complex software products

- Establish standards, best practices and technical operations to deliver consistent, high-quality products across dispersed, global teams

- Implement engineering management strategies to achieve productivity and cost efficiency

- Engage with customers and product managers to ensure that product delivery obsessively aligns with customer value creation

- Build teams that can cater to product and customer demands

- Lead product technical due diligence and engineering talent assessment

- Design and architect business architecture and drive functional aspects of the product from technology, usability and delivery standpoints

Mandatory Skills

- 12+ years of engineering experience leading multiple teams across multiple products and technologies - this is a leadership role for a seasoned software development leader, not a first executive role for a great software development manager

- A huge plus if your experience is Software Engineering focused instead of product management

- Proven experience in building high-performance teams and scalable best engineering practices

- Spent 5 years in hands-on Java or Open Source architecture and programming in a hands-on, development-intensive individual contributor role, on data intensive products

- Recent experience with DevOps and Cloud architecture

- Experience with high-end enterprise systems deployed in environments of Global 100 corporation complexity

- Experience with building highly secure transactional portals in the financial services / banking industries is a huge plus

- Understanding of IT security practices

- Understanding of major technologies used by the company and other prevailing trends in the IT industry (prefer hands-on development experience with many of these and others)

Qualification

Bachelors degree required, preferably Computer Engineering, IT or other relevant discipline (Masters degree preferred)
