JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for
- Establishing Data Governance in the organization.
- Determine and publish data quality in various systems
- Drive process changes/system changes to ensure data quality
- Data Model Custodian
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Governance
- Define the owners or custodians of the data assets in the enterprise.
- Help define a Governing Body/Council and identify the people who will be involved in the same.
- Define a Policy that specifies who is accountable for various portions or aspects of the data, including its accuracy, accessibility, consistency, completeness, and updating.
- Processes must be defined concerning how the data is to be stored, archived, backed up, and protected from mishaps, theft, or attack.
- A set of standards and procedures must be developed that defines how the data is to be used by authorized personnel.
- A set of controls and audit procedures must be put into place that ensures ongoing compliance with government regulations.
Data Quality
- The prime function of governance is to improve and maintain the quality of the data; thus, to be successful at governance, quality must be continuously measured and the results continuously fed back into the governance process.
- Data quality is a much more involved process that focuses an organization’s resources on addressing the quality issues at the source vs. after the fact in the warehouses and analytic/reporting platforms.
- Identify, initiate and monitor projects to improve data quality in the organisation.
- Maintenance of Data Dictionary
Data Model Custodian
- Custodian of the Enterprise Data Warehouse Model. Assessing the impact of any change onto the model.
- Create and own the data dictionary for the organisation. Responsible for single version of truth (of data) for the organisation
Process Control
- Analyze the exceptions that are coming through in data governance.
- Work closely with the Data owners to highlight the process exceptions that are coming through.
- Workshop with various functions on the process exceptions
- Come up with processes to control the process exceptions.
Program Management of DQ Projects
- Ensure that all the projects that have been started in various functions are moving in the right direction.
- Be able to report back on all the the projects (started to better the data quality)
- Be able to support and clear road blocks if any on all of the above projects.
- Have regular meetings to asses the progress of these Projects
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for providing regular MIS on data quality and projects run various functions towards Data Governance and Data Quality
- Identify potential hurdles and escalate through the appropriate channels.
- Responsible for monitoring project status for projects initiated through the Data Quality/Data Governance framework & recommending corrective actions in consultation with process owner.
- Maintain log of all related queries from all stakeholders and provide adequate response
- Identify system/ process enhancement opportunities from log of queries and implement.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
- Post Graduate - Preferably an MBA.
MINIMUM/SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:
- 8-9 Years of overall experience. With good knowledge of MNYL processes, Program Management skill sets; Experience in using Data as a key driver; Experience in Analytics.
