Director - Performance Engineering

Overview

Quality Engineering team within MasterCard is about creating an ecosystem to build a world beyond waiting for all delivery teams to help achieve time-to-market, quality excellence, and higher customer satisfaction within all verticals including Mastercard Processing, core, emerging payments, and value-added services.

- This position will be part of Quality Engineering team driving Performance engineering and performance test strategy for all key MasterCard business verticals and capabilities mainly for International Processing platform. He will work very closely with VPs from processing to lead Mastercard Integrated platform to scale for SA and MEA region.

- This position will drive holistic performance strategy, performance testing, analysis, tuning, and performance architecture for key MasterCard business verticals including Mastercard Integrated platform and capabilities.

Role

- Director to provide technical recommendations for a holistic performance strategy covering environment, techniques, key SLA metrics; platform hardware analysis; scalability architecture for better performance; and performance profiling/troubleshooting techniques.

- Mentor a sizable team of performance engineers on test data and performance environment needs, and develop schedules for ongoing performance testing activities.

- Partner with operations, product, and development teams to develop real-time performance dashboards and provide daily transparency of production application performance to stakeholders.

- Develop and oversee performance strategies and approaches including creating performance metrics and ensuring all applications are performing to the agreed upon SLAs.

- Perform performance testing, profiling, and troubleshooting for the assigned products/projects and present results with deep insight.

- Define and implement best practices for end-to-end application performance management solutions including Proof of Concepts and Tools evaluation and selection - specifically in the area of emerging technologies (Web, Mobile, Text based reports, Big-data).

- Define and evolve the vision for Performance at a program level identifying innovative ways of accomplishing that vision

- Work with all aspects of the business and company to drive the performance vision

- Collaborate with leadership on all aspects of performance management of our infrastructure and product portfolio, Work with product owners to incorporate performance into the products built by Mastercard and leveraged by clients

- Build a data-driven and performant-by-default culture to improve the performance, efficiency and scalability of services and systems

- Recommend & procure tools and services to our performance engineers to allow them to gain further insights into performance issues before and after code is deployed

All About You

Experience in Software Development, Quality Engineering or Architecture using JEE/.NET stack - Cloud experience is a big plus.

- Senior Engineers/Principal Engineers/Architects with background solving performance, volume, availability and scalability problems and wanting to move into management are also encouraged to apply

- Must have strong understanding and vision of how to design performance centric solutions to achieve superior end user experience

- Extensive knowledge and experience in the performance engineering domains (e.g. benchmarking, performance analysis, performance tooling, performance testing)

- Strong knowledge of technologies, tools and methodologies for enabling performant infrastructure, products, and code

- Must know performance testing, analysis and tuning at a CPU, I/O, end-to-end, API, Service, DB levels

- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

- Shows high potential in positive and pragmatic leadership skills

- Experience working with senior leadership

- Ability to influence and be service-oriented at the same time

- Self-motivated individual that finds and delivers solutions with ability to continuously learn new applications and technologies.
