Position Overview: The Head of PMS Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of the Portfolio Management System (PMS) within the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of financial and investment processes, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of effectively managing and optimizing PMS operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the strategic vision and goals for PMS operations in alignment with the overall business strategy.
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the PMS operations team, ensuring a cohesive and high-performing team environment.
2. PMS Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the PMS, including system configuration, data management, and performance measurement.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of investment transactions, portfolio updates, and reporting.
- Monitor and enhance the functionality and efficiency of the PMS to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
3. Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve PMS workflows, automation, and data integration to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and system enhancements.
4. Data Integrity and Quality:
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of data within the PMS, and implement controls to maintain data quality standards.
- Establish procedures for data validation, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
5. Performance Measurement and Reporting:
- Oversee the generation of performance reports, investment analysis, and portfolio insights for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Collaborate with the reporting team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of performance metrics and investment-related information.
6. Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies related to portfolio management and data handling.
- Implement and maintain effective risk management controls within the PMS operations.
7. Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with PMS vendors and third-party service providers, ensuring effective service delivery and contract adherence.
- Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate terms to optimize service quality and cost-effectiveness.
8. Team Development:
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop a high-performing PMS operations team.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and collaboration within the team.
9. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including portfolio managers, traders, compliance teams, and clients, to understand their requirements and ensure effective communication.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Extensive experience of at least 5+ years in portfolio management operations and overall 10 years in investment operations, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of portfolio management systems and related technologies.
- Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and driving operational excellence.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- In-depth understanding of financial markets, investment instruments, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Familiarity with data management, automation, and process optimization tools and techniques.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CIPM, FRM) are a plus.
