Market (Valuation) Risk Management: Valuations assigned to financial instruments play a key role in understanding our portfolio and enabling appropriate decisions to be made. Valuations feed into our accounts, are at the core of P/L, determine the calibration of models, and form a key part of risk assessment. Inaccurate valuations distort the decision making process, and so it is clear that controls ensuring appropriate valuations are an essential part of the firm's operations.
- To ensure the firm is utilizing appropriate valuations, company has developed an Independent Price Verification (IPV) process that formally assesses the quality of our valuations and acts to correct any issues.
The Opportunity:
- Perform Independent Price Verification [IPV] on various asset classes.
- Analyze valuation signals from market, vendors, brokers, and/or counter parties
- Identify and assessing valuation risks with respect to materiality, complexity (e.g. models versus market prices)
- Prepare final reports for Pricing and Valuation Committee and Senior RiskCo, reporting overall IPV control on MoM basis
- IPV Population control (matching IPV population with company's Financial report) and reconciliation
- Measurement and monitoring of Market Risk, Stress-testing of assets, estimating risk impact of asset-liability mismatch
- Support enhancements of existing IPV processes, tools, methodologies to ensure robust control environment
- Work in cross functional projects with Credit and Quantitative Risk Management groups within the FRM team.
Background:
- Strong knowledge of financial products
- Knowledge of Finance (Risk management and/or trading)
- Strong knowledge of Excel; Access is an added advantage.
