ROLE :Market Research Manager
Department: Marketing – Trade Marketing
Reports To: Market Research Head,
Location : Abuja, Nigeria
Experience & Qualifications: - MBA or MLS (preferred) - 7-10 years of experience in the field of market research
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular market research activities to gauge the pulse of the industry and be up to date with latest trends in consumer preferences and competitor strategy
- Provide data, to prepare and support brand plans made annually, and to evaluate the effectiveness of the market intervention strategies
- Conduct regular market assessment exercises to represent market data/activities (own product v/s the competitor)
- Undertake strategic research activities for spotting global and macro economic trends in spirits industry
- Measure current and forecast future market activity and consumer trends, to conduct primary consumer research - identify new market opportunities, analyze competitor activities and gauge the feasibility of the product
- Provide strategic feedback like competitor movement, emerging trends, changing consumer preferences to the respective brand head based on market analysis
- Facilitate market research activities to provide accurate and timely market and competitor information for strategic and operational decisions
- Oversee plans to analyze the feasibility of the product in the market
- Identify areas for research and manage all market research initiatives, both qualitatively and quantitatively like identifying suitable agencies, overlooking the research activities, collating field data, defining logical cuts and checking the sanity of the information provided
- Maintain ongoing relationships with external research agencies and consultants to ensure the organization receives excellent standards of service
- Lead, direct and evaluate market research staff to ensure that the team's resources are used effectively and that work schedules and targets are met on time
- Plan, prioritize and manage research projects within established budgets and deadlines
- Draw insights from the research done and act as a consultant on statistical techniques
- Provide general statistical advice and assistance to market research executives
- Provide deep dive assessments of market focused topics as needed to support internal brands
- Provide high priority industry impact assessments in collaboration with key business unit leaders
- Analyze potential acquisition targets with respects to market and competitive fit
- Develop ‘knowledge’ modules on a regular basis based upon research done on a brand/ segment/ category
- Monthly report to Head of Marketing and Category Head on the research assignments handled and status
Competency:Business Insight,Competitive Intelligence,Influencing for Results,Knowledge of Industry/ Product,Relationship building/ Collaboration,
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED :
- MBA from a premier institute
- Prior degree in statistics would be considered as an advantage
- 4 - 5 years of solid primary marketing research experience (client or agency) in consumer research
- Experience with a wide variety of primary research methodologies in both qualitative and quantitative approaches
- Extensive experience across product categories; specifically CPG (consumer packaged goods)
- Ability to apply statistical and other multivariate analyses
- Proficient with MS Office and statistical packages such as SPSS
- Strong communication skills in writing, speaking and presenting
