Tax Consulting & Compliance Manager

Role Purpose: Lead and execute comprehensive tax advisory and compliance services while driving business growth and maintaining excellence in client service delivery across Uganda and the broader East African region.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Advisory & Technical Leadership:
- Provide strategic tax consulting services and innovative solutions for complex business scenarios
- Lead tax planning initiatives and structure optimization projects
- Represent and defend client interests during tax authority audits and investigations
- Monitor and interpret changes in local and international tax legislation
- Develop tax risk management strategies for clients
Business Development & Client Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through targeted proposals and presentations
- Deliver impactful client presentations and training sessions on tax matters
- Act as a trusted advisor for strategic business decisions with tax implications
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals
- Drive performance management and career development initiatives
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing
- Ensure quality control and timely delivery of all team outputs
Practice Management
- Oversee multiple client engagements simultaneously
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation
- Implement best practices and standardized processes
- Contribute to the firm's thought leadership initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or Accounting
- Professional qualification: CA/ACCA/CPA
- Masters in Taxation or equivalent postgraduate qualification (preferred)
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in tax consulting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
- Demonstrated experience in East African tax matters
- Experience with international tax firm is highly advantageous
Technical Competencies:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Indian/African tax legislation and East African tax treaties
- Proficiency in tax compliance software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of international tax principles and cross-border transactions
- Experience with tax audit defense and dispute resolution
