Position: Manager/Sr. Manager, Global Payroll Accounting & Reporting

Job Location: Chennai/Bangalore (Preferably Chennai)

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Owns and processes strong accounting knowledge to process payroll for multi-state/locations/geographies for exempt and non-exempt employees i.e. Regular Full Time, Project Employees, Hourly Employees/contract employee etc. on fortnightly/monthly basis.

2. Collaborates with third party agencies, cross functionally with Benefits, IT, HR, Legal, Tax etc. to process payrolls across US, Costa Rica, India, Rest of the world and also establish/build SOP for all payroll related activities.

3. Maintains payroll standard operating procedures and oversight of the adherence to policy and procedures, as well as internal controls

4. Ability to process complex information and quickly identify innovative solutions that meet both internal and business partner requirements

5. Verifies and processes when necessary tax changes, direct deposits, garnishments, 401K, PF, ESI, Gratuity, Leave encashment/PTO, Income Tax, Bonus, Commissions, Profession Tax, match contributions and loan repayments, deduction goals, retroactive adjustments, prorated payments, monthly allowances, and special pays as per respective labor laws of the country in which company operates.

6. Ensures that all employee timesheets are approved by supervisors in a timely manner, and that timesheet data received is processed accurately.

7. Account for manual checks issued for terminating employees in a timely and accurate manner.

8. Ensures compliance/accurate accounting as per federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations as per laws of the country in which entity operates.

9. Provides prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service to US, Costa Rica, India and ROW counter parts with regarding their pay, deductions, the payroll process

10. In collaboration with People Operations, completes monthly headcount report and analysis

11. Collaborates with HR's to ensure all Leaves/PTO captured and accounted correctly.

12. Executes timely month-end close tasks with the preparation of payroll related monthly accrual journal entries, including but not limited to salaries, PTO, payroll taxes and healthcare/Insurance expenses for all kinds of employees.

13. Reconciles payroll relevant balance sheet accounts monthly basis; tracks and resolves any reconciling items

14. Responsible for monthly headcount reporting for all payroll locations

15. Prepares auditor-required payroll related PBC items for calendar year-end and other interim audits

16. Post all entries related to payroll/payroll tax in SAP books and ensure no reconciling items as at month end.

17. Collaborate with IT on any projects or initiatives that impact payroll applications

18. Responsible for resolving payroll discrepancies.

19. Maintains/protects payroll information of employees confidential.

20. Develops payroll reporting guidelines/standards (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to capture key metrics. Example: volume of payroll issues, a timing of resolution of payroll issues, Total payroll cost for the month, by DU/projects, Cost per employee, Total overtime etc.

21. Develops periodic MIS reporting to management i.e. payroll cost for the current month, explain variances i.e. current month vs prior month, current quarter vs previous quarter etc.

Mandatory:

- US Payroll

- Should not be in HR/ Should be in Accounting payroll

- Handling the payroll of international location(perf US)

Qualifications:

1. Prior SAP experience required

2. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Tax or a related field, CA/ICWAI Inter completed. Master's Degree i.e. MBA/M- com/CA/ICWAI preferred

3. 10+ years progressive multi-state payroll processing and accounting, reconciliation, Labor Relations, Process Improvement or related field experience

4. Excellent organization skills, detail-oriented, oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.

5. Exceptional interpersonal skills

6. Deadline-focused, organized, exhibits an analytical and problem-solving ability

7. Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word & PPT

8. Experience with payroll applications and service providers (e.g., ADP, Kronos, Oracle, SAP, Paycheck, Employee Central) is preferred

9. Previous experience in payroll for a large multi-state company as a manager, Sr. Manager role

10. Must be willing to work in Mid Shift. During month end, profile requires working for extended hours to Month/Quarter Finance close requirements.
