We are looking for Manager/Sr/ Manager Business Development & Content Acquisition based at Mumbai.
The business development executive will be a key member of the team evaluating and licensing content from major studios television networks, OTT, SVOD, for digital streaming across company devices. The candidate will require a keen understanding of both global and local content distributors / creators / publishers / licensors as well as knowledge of local content tastes and preferences.
- She/he will be a key member in content selection/curation, setting strategy and lead the deal negotiations, execution and management in the region.
- The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills that allow for intense attention to detail as well as the ability to see the big picture.
- Should demonstrate a mastery of bilingual verbal and written communication skills will be lead meetings and provide presentations to all levels of the organization as well as negotiate deals and manage external relationships with key partners.
- The Manager/Sr. Manager, Business Development and Content Acquisition must be a self-starting independent operator and will need be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, take the initiative, manage multiple partners, and work under tight timeframes.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Evaluate, curate and identify secure content for digital streaming services across the Pan-Region territories.
- Negotiate TV licensing and distribution deals with linear broadcast network, content studios, content licensors, AVOD/FAST Channels curators, and other OTT content providers in the region.
- Lead the negotiation process and interface directly with legal team in the contract drafting and review process.
- Manage and evaluate content through performance tracking, industry knowledge and insights, and research in an effort to find the best content for company device owners with the region.
- Develop a deep understanding of content markets through laser focus on acquiring knowledge of the competitive landscape and market environment within the pan-region and multiple international territories.
- Participate in all aspects of negotiation (including pitching/prospecting, forecasting, contract drafting, operational management, scheduling launch timing, etc.)
- Communicate market trends and industry shifts, including implications and recommendations, to internal and external partners.
- Prepare strategy documents, quarterly business reviews, and executive presentations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- 10+ years of experience in content acquisition at a major distributor or content distribution for a media company in India with a track record of personally closing high-value deals
- Based in India, but travel frequently to International travel required.
- Fluency in both English and Hindi and demonstrate mastery of verbal and written communication skills including the ability to cultivate internal and external relationships
- Previous content acquisition and/or content programmer experience in sourcing and curating content in the region
- Broad understanding of the digital video advertising ecosystem, local advertising trends, ads economics, and changing ads business models
- Experience in providing product innovation feedback and close collaboration with various teams including (Product Management, UX Design, and Engineering)
- Ability to work independently, mold a growing industry and pivot quickly upon changing trends
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated experience in market analysis, competitive analysis and strategic thinking.
- Ability to manage and process detailed information while keeping perspective on the bigger picture
- Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are a must
